Good P5, UConn, UMass, FCS.

This is not that hard.

I'd be ok with UConn and UMass annually, but only if that replaced the FCS game.

Problem is BC wants nothing to do with (2) and (1) wants nothing to do with BC

This

At one time this was doable.....GDF started the crap OOC scheduling and this guy brought it to new levels. They need to get back to the above. Despite all the negative Chet talk, he at least had a decent schedule when he was here.

No but what's the alternative? Some directional Michigan school?

We play FSU, Lville, Clemson and VT every year, I don't feel like we need to go nuts with OOC. Just make it entertaining.

No decision on 8 conference games w/ 2 P5 requirement vs. 9 conference games at the ACC meetings. This article does say that part of the ACCN deal specifically requires 10 P5 games, so the ACC needs to make a decision either way.

Glad to see schools like BC didn't cave to the ACC baby rapists. If they want to protect their rivalry games by avoiding a 9-game conference schedule that's fine. But at least get something out of it. For BC I hope that's more of the old Big East teams on the schedule more often, especially Miami.

These idiot coaches should have zero input. TV provides the revenue for their multi-million dollar salaries and the customer comes first. Nobody wants to watch these bullshit FCS games. If we actually get to 4, 16 team conferences with conference champions getting auto bid to the playoffs this would not be an issue. Just go to a 13 game schedule with 9 conference games. Conference CG can be played on the 2nd Sat of Dec.

ESPN keeps pressing this topic. Wonder if it'll come to a head soon. Some interesting details:

- Last vote on 9 games was 8-6 opposed. That's really close.
- Miami voted for 9 games last time, as did UNC and NCST.
- FSU, Clemson, GT and Louisville are adamantly against 9 games due to SEC rivals.
- Considering 8 conference games and 2 "P5" OOC games instead of 2 P5 games. Basically including BYU, Houston, Boise St, Army, Navy, ECU as P5.
- In addition to UNC scheduling Wake as OOC due to frustration with rarity of inter-division games, NCST was close to scheduling Duke OOC as well.
- "Status quo is no longer an option."

Is it possible BC voted against 9 games? Only 6 supported it and if Miami was one of the six, and you assume the 4 NC schools also voted for it, then that's only 1 yes vote remaining. Clearly Bates and Addazio have been trying to cupcake-ify the schedule. Maybe they voted against 9 games to keep the Buffalo's of the world on the schedule. If so, BC is a swing vote in the current round. And now I'd assume that if BC has to choose it would definitely prefer 9 conference games than struggling to find 2 P5's.

I think 9 has to happen. Even if the divisions stay the same and the annual cross-over rival remains, at least that would mean playing Miami and Pitt every 3 years instead of every 6.

They should play 10 conference games. The hold up is no automatic bid to the playoffs for the conference champion. Either go to an 8 team playoff with auto bids for the P5 and 3 at large bids allowing the next best 3 teams from whatever conference or preferable would be 4, 16 team conferences with the CG being the final 8 round.

Bottom line is nobody is going to pay to watch the ACCN if they put crap games on. Win your division, you get to the final 8 creates fan interest and that means subscribers.

For what it's worth, ESPN has it pegged like this:

8+2: Solid = Clemson, FSU, GT, Louisville and Duke. Lean = Pitt and VT. = 7
9+1: Solid = BC, Miami, UNC, NCST, and UVa. Lean = Syracuse and Wake. = 7

Last Friday there was a deadlocked vote on the issue. If all things remain the same, most of the media seems to expect 9+1 to win out just based on desire to play other teams in the other division and the practical difficulties of scheduling 2 P5 opponents every year (especially with the Pac 12 and BIG at 9 game schedules). But I don't think so. I imagine there is no compromise that will make 9+1 palatable to Clemson, FSU, GT and Louisville. And I really don't think Swofford wants to disappoint that group of teams. I'd expect there to be some serious horse-trading to win over some of the 9+1 crowd.

My money is on:
1) Division realignment with ACC/Big East split, taking care of the concern about not playing teams in the other division consistently.
2) An ESPN approved softening of the two P5 requirement. Perhaps allowing select Independents and G5's to qualifty (BYU, Boise State, some AAC teams, and service academies). Maybe there might even be a softening of the quantity of P5's too. Instead of two P5's per year, maybe you go with three P5's every 2years, or even 5 every 3 years. It alleviates some pressure to find opponents and some flexibility to maximize number of home games.

That kind of compromise should be enough to flip one of BC, Syracuse, UNC, NCST, and Wake to win the day for the 8+2 group.

Oh, and this definitely needs to be decided by end of calendar year.

How about "8 + 1 + 1":
1.8 conference
2.1 Power5 (including ND),
3.1 more from Power 5 OR from ANY AAC ("American")school/BYU/Boise/Army/AFA= and those teams/schools can be revaluated every 4 years for "eligibility".

And THEN I would put in a stipulation that you can only play 1 FCS team every TWO years.
