Few corrections:
Sillah was a DE last season (not sure about the spring)
Luchetti was playing TE in the spring
Levy should be listed as a RB
Ciaffioni was a PWO
Muse played OLB & SS last season. Anyone know where he was playing in the spring?
Mahogany is a RFR
Missing Rueve at QB
Missing Ray Marten at TE
Missing Kevin Cline at OL

Ciaffioni is on scholarship. BC announced his commitment on signing day, which they do for all scholarship players.
Missing Jiovanny Holmes and Kam Arnold as freshman DBs.
Deon Jones has 2 years of eligibility remaining, so he's a Redshirt Jr.
Jaelen Gill is a WR/RB transfer from Ohio St. (likely not eligible next year but on scholarship).
K Aaron Boumerhi is also a RS-Sr. He missed a year at Temple due to injury.

All this is to say that BC will still be active in the transfer market and will probably have a 25+ person recruiting class.

Fixed.

I have projected starters underlined. Any ideas on who the 5th OL starter will be? Is it safe to say Gill will start at WR, or too early to tell?

if Hafley is as advertised coaching D (and competent as a HC), we might be halfway decent next year.

We have a ton of depth (henning error depth) at TE. :ace

Sure, but He was on the team in the spring. As far as depth, the backup on the depth chart is a walkon.

He was a starter against VTech, then rarely played in the 2nd half of the season and wasn't on the Duke game depth chart. This hurts more for next season.

He is, which is why he did not need a waiver this season, but entered BC with two years of eligibility remaining. With the new Wu-Flu rules, who knows what that means.

This kid is utterly fucking his life up. He is a couple of semesters short of a degree and he is transferring because he thinks he can play in the NFL--while they can bury him on the depth chart, Hafley can't run him off until he graduates. Of course, the only schools that have expressed any interest are Rhode Island, Marshall, JMU, Tulsa and Marist. Outside of James Madison, not a lot of NFL alum from any of those schools and JMU tends to supply skill position players to the next level. This kid is going to end up in a bad situation on Academy Street or N Hamilton in a couple of years and it didn't have to happen.

Probably, given his matriculation at Spackenkill for high school, but I don’t think he can get into enough trouble in the ROM. He’s going to be drawn towards City Center and the shitty peripheries, especially if he ends up at Marist. Will probably get sent away by one of my cousins.

*Still trying to figure out what major malfunction prevented Lourdes from slipping him past admissions. I could see him not wanting OLL if he were at Arlington, PoHigh or even FDR to play higher level competition, but Spackenkill? For realz? All he has to do is cut across the Vassar Golf Course.

Mahopac and the Rockland schools used to roll the Dutchess schools in football. We got them back in baseball and hoop, although the Putnam big schools could play baseball a bit. We weren't troubled OOC in hoop until we got to Scarsdale, New Roch and Mt Vernon, who all kicked our ass.

North Rockland used to roll everyone in Section 1 (except for a couple of private schools) until Bergen Catholic, Don Bosco, St. Joe’s, etc. figured out that it was an easy commute and started buying up players (with side trips to shop at Nyack, Nanuet and Clarkstown, which produced the occasional running back, wide receiver and convicted sex offender).

We played PoHigh once when I was in high school, they had three or four kids kids who were Division 1 talents—one of them actually scored high enough on his SATs that Syracuse squeezed him in and another got Propped 48 on his way to Pitt, a family member who had recently left the Dutchess DAs office at the time later told me it ended badly for the other two, who probably still reside—against their will—someplace upstate like Clinton CF in Dannemora or maybe closer to home in Otisville. Unfortunately, they were also the most horribly undisciplined and poorly coached team I have ever played against. They bit on every screen pass and, I shit you not, three double passes and they killed off most of their drives in a flurry of illegal procedures, delay of games, illegal formations and a few unsportsmanlikes for good measure. The late 80s Pioneers were glorious to behold.

I can’t speak for it now, but back in the day Scarsdale was like the Westchester High School Basketball version of the Wisconsin Badgers—white as the driven snow, all players were roughly the same size, played a slow tempo game with perfect discipline, fundamentally sound in all aspects of the game. They were a very hard out, except when they ran into a very athletic team, in which case they could be run off the court—which happened every time they played MV and occasionally when they played Ossining, who Obi Toppen aside, would produce a D1 player every couple of years (there was kid who ended up at Temple and another who ended up at GW when both went to the Elite 8 during that era).

They were also actually pretty good at football with pretty much the same profile. In that case, they had the best—in terms of teaching and coaching—pop warner football programs that they split with Eastchester (think they were called the Blue Devils). Although the best player in that area in that era was the big Jewish fullback who played for Wisconsin and spent a season or two playing for Detroit who played at Edgemont. It is funny, for all the hype that surrounded a few Yonkers, New Rock, MV, White Plains and Mamaroneck kids (Sammy Maldonado?) during that era, the best RB was a Jewish kid from a high school that is 50% Asian and sends a disproportionate share of its students to the Ivy League.

I always thought the Dutchess County schools punched above their weight in baseball. I beat Dave Fleming 1-0 in American Legion Ball my first year his last year— he was from Mahopac/Putnam County and went on to lead Georgia to a national championship and then a six or seven year MLB career (incidentally, he couldn’t throw a fastball through a wet paper bag, but his breaking stuff was filthy), but I got fucking wrecked by Arlington Legion—demolished by a bunch of kids who were going to play at Canisius, Bonnies and Marist—and I had decent stuff that day and I lost a game to a team that was out of Hyde Park or Rheinbeck called the Highlanders where I threw a 2 hitter but lost 1-0 to a kid who no hit us, whose name escapes me, but who apparently had a cup of coffee in MLB (think he was an Eye-tie, might have gone to college in the MAAC, but not Marist, and he only had one pitch but it was a 90-95 mph fastball that ran 6 or seven inches in on righties and away from lefties and was terrifying because location was not his strength—I believe he walked 5 of our hitters and HBP 2 more).

Northern Dutchess was Big League, not Legion, but if you graduated BC in or around 92 to 96, then you were around when Northern Dutchess was in the state title game like 4 years in a row. It was all Arlington, Spackenkill, Roosevelt and Ketchum kids and for some reason Brewster.

Definitely Legion. Mid-Hudson Highlanders were the team who had the Italian kid who could throw the ball 95 mph. As I think about it now, I think we played the game at SUNY New Paltz. He was two or three years older than me--probably the same age as Fleming--so he'd be 90 or 91 for college. I do distinctly remember some of those boys having FDR and Lourdes gear, so I think they had Dutchess and Ulster kids. Thought the other team was Arlington--we played the game in Poughkeepsie--maybe at Spackenkill, but doing some inter web sleuthing it appears there was a combined Newburgh-Poughkeepsie Legion team during that era. Anyway, they kicked the shit out of me--laid off every splitter, were willing to take a lot of strikes on the corners and didn't chase a thing. Wore me out, reduced the strike zone to a shoebox and teed off on me in the 4th or 5th inning if I recall correctly. At 8 or 9 or 10 runs and my coach leaving me in to take one for the team, I think I put fastball in a kid's ear and then did it to the next kid as well and got myself ejected. One of my most miserable sports experiences. Played them again a year later and beat them, but mostly because their pitcher blew up in the 1st or 2nd inning and I was able to give them stuff to hit early and my defense took care of me. I remember those guys because it was traumatic.

* I found the Italian guy after some sleuthing--Frank Cimorelli of your high school alma mater. Made 11 appearances with the St Louis Cardinals in 1994 and spent another 7 years in the minors--two really good seasons with Louisville in AAA. Seems that everything fell apart when the Cards sent him down and he ended up flaming out of Louisville and ending with two lackluster seasons in AA. MLB ERA is 8.78 and a WAR of -0.6. It goes to show how good you have to be to make an MLB roster because he sucked as an MLB pitcher and I can tell you that it was terrifying batting against him.

I played with Frank's younger brother, who was class of 90. Frank was probably class of 88, on the team that I believe won Section 1. And should have, because they also had Jeff Pierce, who pitched with the Sox in 95. I was probably JV at the time.

There was a legion team in Dutchess, but most of the HS stars from the big Section 1 schools played Big League. I think some of the Ketcham kids, the beacon kids and the Jay kids were legion, but I don't remember exactly. But I am guessing Frank was on the Big League team, as he is from Hyde Park.

The more I think about it, I am guessing if they were called the Highlanders and based in the region with games in New Paltz, they were probably Ulster County - Highland, specifically. I do recall a legion team down around Beacon, however.

Ulster raises another note, about 3-4 years after me, the town of Marlboro had two future pros at the same time, Dermal (Dee) Brown and Rob Bell.
