Rutgers Situation

Postby BCSUPERFAN22 on Thu Sep 03, 2015 11:34 am

@SamHellmanScout: Not only is there a police presence at the Hale Center entrance but AD Julie Hermann is at practice. Interesting. Stay tuned.

I haven't followed this situation very closely, but some Rutgers beat writers are saying that the RU AD was at practice today with increased police presence. IDK if they're using this apparent violation as a way to get out of their "Spaz" or not, but seems like something could be in the works.

There will always be recruiting overlap with BCs coverage of Jersey, so it's worth keeping an eye on should anything happen. BC probably would have been in a better position a 1-2 years ago when it seemed like there was much more overlap in offers (RU commits with BC offers). Considering the fact that this class will be smaller and Rutgers overall dip in recruiting makes the present situation a bit less advantageous, even the ability to pick off 1 or 2 guys this cycle should something happen would be nice.

HJS have you heard anything suggesting that Flood could be in serious trouble ?

I agree with HJS' earlier comment that we do not want anything to come of this. We want Flood to stay for a long time.

He's being investigated for allegedly initiating contact with a professor to discuss a matter regarding grades/eligibility for a player.

Edit - the best thing about the story is that the professor in question teaches at Rutgers' school of arts, so the player was probably failing pottery or some similar bullshit class.

Well BIG10 got their NYC TV market!

Good to see Rutgirls hasn't lowered their standards to bring in athletes to compete in BIG10. Five current football players and two former players. Florida state must be jealous!

I honestly do not think the B10 gives a fuck. Any thoughts of academics are completely undercut by 0.0hio State and any concerns about criminal conduct is undercut by the continued presence of Ped State. Rutgers is just joining the rest of its brethren.

Ultimately, RU and Maryland are perfect fits in the only conference whose membership matches its women... pearshaped. Simply there isn't a more bottom-heavy conference in the country: RU, MD, NW, I'll, Indy, Minnie, PU, Iowa all suck and have sucked for ages.

If they rehire Schiano it won't get them to B10 championships but it will F us up in recruiting in NJ (to the extent we still recruit there) otherwise I mostly agree.

for what its worth, Rutgers has four commits that BC had interest in:

Isaiah Wright (*** WR, CT)
Rashawn Battle (*** OLB, PA)
Solomon Manning (*** OLB, NJ)
Elijah Johnson (*** OG, MD)

we could probably use another OLB, so maybe one of those guys would be interesting. we already have 2 WR and 2 OG so not sure if any of the others make sense.

Pretty much this. Schiano being available (which would instantly undo all of Herman's terribleness in the eyes of folks in Piscataway) is the big risk.

We want Flood to stay at RU for as long as possible, but certainly long enough for Schiano to take over a rival program.

Seen plenty of Schiano as a Bucs fan. He can take over Rutgers and they'll continue to suck because he is a terrible coach. Good riddance
