"I feel like if I wanted to run the ball, I would’ve just become a running back,’’ he added. “I’m a quarterback for a reason. I love to throw the ball. I love to be able to vertically stretch the defense and make deep passes down the field and just really make explosive and exciting plays. I’m going to do whatever Coach asks me to do and try to really help the team open up the passing game. If he needs me to run the ball, I’m going to run the ball. But I just want to try and help lead the team to victory."
its going to be a work in progress with the line and the new WRs, but its interesting to note that next year we have 2 TE commits and 2 WR commits. other than dudeck and swigert, our WR stable is young as well. Sherm, Callinan, Thadd Smith and Barksdale are all sophs, and Borgerson, Pankey and Garrison are all freshmen. based just on how the roster is being built, i'd guess Addazio is going to open it up and let Wade chuck it once he feels confident in Wade's ability to handle the offense.
BC isn't chucking it even if Matt Ryan had a year of eligibility left. We'll always be a running team, which coincidentally is going to give you the best chance to beat FSU, Clemson, etc. throwing involves athletes which we don't have tons of.
This was true the past two years but will not always be so. BC will always be a run first team because they want to be, and that will keep them in games with FSU and Clemson despite two years with a lack of talent. Best chance to actually beat those two teams is with a good QB, however. Had Murphy been a slightly better passer, BC wins both last season (that's not a knock on him, as his legs kept BC in both games). Just saying BC is 2-0 in those games last year with not so great talent and a true dual threat QB.
right. i don't think we'll go to a mike leach spread offense and throw 50+ times a game. we threw slightly less with Murphy under center than we did with Rettig (260 vs. 230, or about 3 pass attempts per game), but i'd expect the Rettig number (260) to be normal and potentially inch up to around 280-290 in years we have a QB who can throw a spiral and more than 1 WR who can beat his man.
that said, with Wade breaking in this year, relatively green WRs and a line that can't pass block, i'd expect Wade to throw for more than 20 passes maybe 2-3x this year. for comparison, Murphy threw 20+ passes in two games (Umass and Pitt) while Rettig did it 7 times.

Do Gunnell and Robinson count? If so them, otherwise I don't know.

Interesting, of the 3 backups, I thought Robinson was least likely to move. Sounds like a pretty mature kid.
L35guy {l Wrote}:Strange.. I figured the one most likely to move would be Smith. I guess this means that Smith won't be redshirting. Does Robinson have the speed to be an ACC receiver? I wonder if this is an indication that Robinson wasn't the passer the staff thought or that Smith is a better passer than they thought.

Smith seems to be the more athletic of the 2 which lead me to believe he would be the one to eventually make a switch. Robinson has also been on campus since last winter, would have thought his familiarity with the system would have left in on the QB depth chart.

No.
Not a good move. There is a greater need at depth at QB than at wide receiver.

brutal. gotta feel for Glines, who was by all accounts having a great camp.

Do any of our receivers, other than Alston, have the speed to be an ACC receiver?

Thought I read in the spring that Borgersen was the fastest WR?
