Jury has the case now, so I throw this out to the law-talkin' folks: Any predictions?

I'm going 60/40 on acquittal. There's a mountain of circumstantial evidence that's convictable, but your average jury is comprised of functioning morons who treat these assignments like your average episode of CSI. Without a smoking gun (literally or figuratively), I think they'll punt this one.

The double murder is a much more solid case (weapons, eye witnesses, etc.), so the state will get him then, but not here.

You do realize that the literal version of the "smoking gun" metaphor is actually circumstantial evidence, correct?

Yes, the apparently badly used turn a phrase was that they don't have the murder weapon.

The murder weapon would also be circumstantial evidence.

Not much of motive too, right (I have not been paying attention).

More like Plymouth Strong. But I doubt many people will care either way.

Honestly, with the snowmageenapolypse and the Tsarnaev trial happening at the same time, I think everyone pretty much didn't pay attention to this one.

I expect Hernandez will be acquitted of murder because he bought the best lawyers, but I think the jury will convict him on the gun charges. Those penalties will keep him behind bars long enough to squash any dreams of playing football again, which is the harshest punishment you can give him.

That's correct as far as the jury knows. The judge ruled anything related to the double-homicide charges inadmissible a long time ago, so the jury is unaware of the connection.

Do me a favor and don't rely on the "I had no motive" defense when you kill someone. Thanks in advance.

He's not going anywhere, regardless of the verdict. He'll be held on the double homicide charges.

I just won my bet for two beers. I should bet trials instead of college football.

Did the news break in Japan first?

Surprised at the 1st degree murder conviction. If it hadn't been this one, they would have gotten him in Suffolk County for the double anyway though.

Any way Walpole can trade him to California so we can get a prison reality show featuring him and Lawrence Phillips?

Colt 45 would be a fitting choice.

The guy that swore the circumstantial evidence was weak because there was no murder weapon is more of a PBR in a big can guy.

Clearly this means Addazio isn't the right fit for a school like BC since we care about character and he recruited a murderator while at Florida.

i'm hoping to butter him up so he doesn't punish me too badly with his suggested signature. he won't do something fun like yogs or gcag... so maybe by appealing to his preference in libations, he might not make me put up some civilaid level photoshop job of a foul machine or somesuch
