Two FCS schools is embarrassing, and this is a historically bad home schedule.

Addazio mentioned in a press conference the Schiano-Rutgers schedule model, didnt know he would copy it verbatim. Howard has been a staple on Rutgers joke schedule for a long time. With that being said, if Wade is in fact the starter, to have 2 FCS games to break him in isnt the worst thing before throwing him to the dogs

Two FCS schools is also very dumb if you believe this is a 50/50 year for making a bowl (which I don't). Why not play Georgia State instead and not have to win a 7th game?

Our team has very little traveling to do this year.

@ Clemson and then @ Louisville will be tough.

At least there are two home games in October this year. Sadly, that is an improvement over last year.

Let's look at the positives....

Two should be cupcakes to open the season and give our new starting QB time to get some real game experience.

FSU will probably be the Red Bandana game and should be an electric atmosphere.

We don't travel south until early October - so hopefully we don't have to deal with too much heat and humidity.

We don't have to travel much at all. Furthest away games - @Duke, @Clemson and @ Louisville. ND - basically home and Syracuse - not far.

....And, we still haven't been kicked out of the ACC.

i get telling me you wont do 6 home games ever again, but i dont think many wouldve complained if we had a power conference road game to start the year (especially if it came with a return game) and a 1-aa team sep 12

id be shocked if we got 50k combined for the first two games

what has bates been doing the last 2 months?

i dont think thats hyperbole. its the weak year of the acc opponents, and our OOC home schedule is 2 1-aa teams (one on labor day weekend) and a mac opponent

We could very easily start 1-4 in the ACC with this schedule.

Of course, this question is only for academic purposes considering that we're going to be going at least 10-2 in 2015, but is there any chance that the Howard game WILL ACTUALLY count towards bowl eligibility.

I know in the past the NCAA has granted a waiver to teams who have had scheduling conflicts and had to resort to scheduling a second FCS at the last minute. I think NCST had a similar situation a few years back...

it's a good thinmg addazio is the greatest coach we've ever had because he's going to need to win 7 to get to the pinstripe bowl this year

Yup. They could also finish 3-0 in ACC play with a 3-1 OOC to get to 7-5 and I would piss myself with joy with a rookie QB

And the worst part of this schedule is the location of the BYE week. 10 straight games. Wake coming off FSU and suddenly challenging Duke and N. Illinois isn't even a given. Let alone NCST coming off of @Clemson, @Louisville and VT.

Before the schedule came out i was thinking 7-9 wins best case with 5 wins absolute worst case. I think I'm going to have to change the worst case scenario 3.

That's great. He'll be a rookie with a lot of practice snaps that knows the plays.

I'm sure Addazio requested cupcakes. Addazio's talked about how it's good to have manageable games at the beginning of the year to figure out what you have. We'll also be breaking in a new offensive coordinator.

Re: 2015 Schedule

Postby dtwalrus on Thu Jan 29, 2015 11:07 am

Random Thoughts:
- Catch Clemson after Notre Dame and GT. Not bad.
- Catch VT after division grinders against Duke and Miami.
- We're Duke's 4th straight home game. Comfortable little stretch in there, despite GT and Northwestern leading up to us.
- Syracuse with a tough stretch leading up to the finale: FSU, Louisville, Clemson, NCST and then BC.
- Catch Louisville right after they catch FSU. Makes up for us catching them right after Clemson, right? Now if only we could equalize the talent gap...
- Only 5 ACC teams have October BYE's (Duke, Louisville, UNC, Syracuse and NCST). The other 9 schools have a stretch of at least 9 games straight.
- BC is the only ACC school with 10 straight games without a BYE.
- Duke, UNC and NCST have the most favorable BYE schedule, with UNC having a stretches of 5 and 7 and both Duke and NCST perfectly split at 6-game stretches. Tobacco Road bias?
