2015 DBs

Postby DomingoOrtiz on Wed Dec 31, 2014 11:27 am

CB: Johnson, Kam Moore, Yiadom, Ntantang.
The first 3 are fine. Ntantang only played special teams. Incoming FRs Jones, Denis and Torres are projected as CBs.

SS/FS: Simmons, Bletzer, Zoungana, Seward, Dawson.
Unless he played in the Bowl game (he was on the depthchart at FS) Bletzer redshirted as did Seward & Dawson. I am not sure if Seward will play SS or OLB. Zoungana never saw the field, not even special teams. Incoming FRs Walker, El Attrach and maybe Williams are projected to be FS/SS.

Moving Milano back to SS makes a lot of sense especially since BC has adequate depth and talent at LB.

I think they should move Dudeck.

Milano seems to have very good football instincts he needs to play a bunch next year either way

Milano seems pretty locked in to the Keyes blitzing role from what I can tell, and he has put on weight since he got here so I don't think he's going anywhere. HockeyRuption has him starting at SAM

Agree that Milano is slotted for the Keyes position. Hearing that Christian Lezzer may be moved to safety.

Not sure I like this. Guys frequently have success moving to a bigger/slower position (CBs to S, Ss to LB, LBs to DE, DEs to DT) but rarely the other way around.

He's listed at 6'1" 210lbs. That's safety size, put to your point, not sure about his speed.

Watching Ped St game again reinforced this. We need a S that can play center field.

Lukas Denis looked like he'd make a good safety on his highlight tape.

No opinion of him personally, but he was one of the few on the roster that never saw the field last season.

Denis can catch, which would rank him ahead of most our DBs

If we dont move someone like Moore or Yiadom to safety next to Simmons then Mehdi El Attrach has a good chance of starting if those are our options. He'll be getting snaps either way one of our best defensive recruits in my opinion.

I think Cam Seward is another option at safety as well.

It's not even close. Distant second would be Morris/Tribble/Silva/Davis

Simmons if anyone is the one giving up any plays. This secondary (and whole defense) is gonna be unreal next year.

Should be the most athletic defense we've ever had, and we should be able to just about go 3 deep across the board. Do we and other teams typically play/rotate the 3rd stringers regularly or is it mainly just the 2 deep guys that get most of the snaps? I never really stopped to look, but it seems it's usually only the 2 deep guys that play a lot (other than RB/WR/TE)

John Johnson really looked like he made a nice improvement from last year to this year. I missed the first half of the FSU game but couldn't believe what I was seeing out of our secondary when I got home for the 2nd half.

The starters were Kam Moore & Yiadom at CB; Simmons & Johnson at FS/SS. McClary alternated series with Yiadom and Harris came in in 5 DB sets. Don't think anyone else played against FSU.

This. McClary gets a lot of snaps, and exclusively splits with Yiadom. Moore is always on the field and rightfully so.

Moore was a camp offer if I recall correctly, I don't know how he does it but Brown finds Elite DB talent that other teams overlook. Also, I expect a few of the OLs to blossom next year, especially Hendren, Phillips and Lindstrom. Even an average OL would net BC 8 or 9 wins next year.

While I am concerned about the Oline, I am excited to see what last year's Oline recruits can do next year. Knopfke was highly regarded out of HS and Monteiro (6'7, 336) and Palazzolo (6'6, 315) are huge already.
