I don't think you read the article so well...

. TheScore.ie understands a deal is in place that will see Boston College host Georgia Tech at Headquarters though it is likely the game will be moved from the last weekend in August to avoid any repeat of the events of 2014.

If you'd prefer to stay in Cork or Belfast over Dublin, I am willing to venture that you have never been to either city. Galway I could agree with though. Once you get away from Temple Bar, Dubin is no more of a rip off than any other city.

I hope that I will be able to make it to this game, should be good craic!

Are you talking about Cork City and Galway City? Or County Cork and County Galway?

I can't recommend Cork City over Dublin and it also is like a 3-4 hour drive. It's like saying you would stay in Portland, Maine and then drive to a game in Boston.

I suspect the article is off. BC and GT could ask the NCAA for a waiver to start the season early, but I don't think a random Saturday game played in August is as valuable to ESPN as a early game on the official kickoff weekend.

Cue the complaints about the 2016 home schedule. It looks like the GT game is officially set to be moved from Alumni to Ireland.

I believe Bates said he would never give up a home game for this at one of the town halls so curious what ends up happening.

bates doesn't appear to be as greasy as gene but he does seem to share some of the same do-nothing attitude.

sure, sure - he talks a big game but what has he really done? implemented that wristband on shea policy - super!!!! hired a mac coach that can't close on recruits - awesome!!!!

he hasn't even filled in the corners or put ac in conte.

i'm not quite to "nobody could possibly be worse than gdf/chris crane" but... i can see it approaching on the horizion

I like how the article mentions that these games bring around 55,000 "fans" to the game and into the local economy. Not sure who's selling that malarkey, but I'm guessing that BC/GT combined might bring 5,500 to that game.

i'd agree with you if you mean $5,500 or even €5,500 but there will not be 5,500 that travel to ireland to see either one of these teams

Ha! Even when we play a "home" game in Ireland we get shafted with the start time!
The only good news here is that we will not have a Labor Day weekend home game in 2016.

Live sports in the morning do very well in the ratings compared to SportsCenter or other highlights shows. ESPN would love to have one morning game a week if they could. That is why you see more and more 11 AM starts each season. This will be a big push of all day games. It wouldn't surprise me if they have a midnight start for a west coast game.

I'm a BC fan and I won't watch that game live if I stay home. ESPN makes boat loads of cash but they are not infallible. If morning sports beat sportscenter, it is because ESPN already fucked up sportscenter.

This is exciting, but I'm just scratching my head about the start time. While the 7:30 a.m. start time kind of stinks on the east coast, think about the west. The game will be at 4:30 a.m. in the Pacific time zone. I can't see them getting good ratings for this broadcast at those times. It would seem to be a no-brainer to push this back so that it starts at 9:30 or 10 a.m eastern so that there are at least a few pople up on the west coast to watch too.

Per one of the other posters, the West Coast will get that midnight game that not many East Coast folks will watch to in some ways balance out. It seems they want a continuous feed of football from 7AM to 3AM.
