I read that Pitt has reached out to Schiano. How has HJS not declared them the next college football dynasty yet?

First of all, if Dazoo took the Michigan job, that is the first call I hope Bates would make (of course we all know the reality would be a MAC dog-fight between Lembo and Campbell).

Second of all, I would be shocked if Pitt went in that direction since Schiano it would mean that they would be looking for their 6th coach in 6 years (as he would quickly be off to a bigger program). Given the turnstile in Western Pennsylvania, I think they would be smart to take a coach who will stay for more than a couple of years.

ATL suggests it's time to extend Daz. I'm generally on board with the idea, but here's my question: When a head coach gets an extension/raise, do the assistants typically negotiate/get one at the same time too, or is it all individualized?

Under GDF, the coordinators usually got one at the same time. As far as position coaches, if Gene felt you were integral, you got a raise, too.

you can't speak badly of daz. he's given us two bowl games and therefore is the greatest coach of all time. pay no attention to quotes like bordner's, clock management and the lack of understanding that the roster needs a kicker
now in the street there is violence
and, and a lots of work to be done
no place to hang out our washing
and, and i can't blame all on the sun
good god we gonna rock down to electric avenue
and then we'll take it higher

I feel like we should reward Al Washington in some way. He's obviously done a great job, and I'd like to keep him around

Now that the Niners are out of the playoffs he is considering it. $8mm per is silly money for a college coach.

All of these big time programs seem like incredibly fucked up places to work.

Peleini took the low road out of Nebraska.

Wonder if Frank Solich called to congratulate him.

No way he got offered 8 million per year! If it's true I can see why the NCAA wants to cap salaries. How can you pay a coach that much money and not pay the players? Shit the fans should get paid because nobody wants to watch a football game on TV with an empty stadium in the background!

Well... if Pitt's AD met with Schiano, he got fired as a result. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr- ... 50820.html

As I alluded to in my previous posts, it should come as no surprise that the higher-ups are not happy about the rotating door in the coaches' office. My money is on them doing some sort of compromised search for someone who won't leave them (i.e. went to school there (Sal Sunseri) or is from the area (Doc Holliday, Mark Mangino). I actually think Bo Pellini would have been an excellent fit for this job (and would have been willing to sign a contract with a prohibitive buyout). Outside of a local, only a young coach being handed his big shot would agree to such a buyout now.

What else is he supposed to do with the highest paid player in the sport?

He should've sent him to Kansas City.

And he might've if he was the GM.

GM actually made a great call, once the QB was selected. Trading a backup QB for 5 excellent players was a sweet move.

Harbaugh's Michigan press conference is tomorrow. Bullet-dodged on potentially losing our "great" hire.

I'm not sure why I even watch on Saturdays anymore now that I know that we'll never be able to watch a Darrell Hazell coached team.

That's a lot of cheddar. I think Saban only makes $7m and Urban makes something like $4m.
