Florida announces indoor facity to be completed by September. Once again, appalling that BC is so far behind on this.

Florida facility is estimated to cost $15 million. BC needs to lose this apparent reliance on union workers (as some here have claimed which will drive the cost to $40mm) and get this done.

Hell if BC were in Winston Salem for example, it would probably be a powerhouse.

40 or even 15 million is ridiculous...
A local Ohio HS just down the road built a very nice indoor facility for $3 million in 2008 & they used Union labor to build it.

Design build construction is the least expensive way to build, but BC has preferred full architectural drawings and BC does not like metal construction. That said, the building looks very good and it could look great as part of the new rec center. Brick facade is an inexpensive way to dress it up and incorporating it into the new rec center will bring the cost down significantly, not to mention only needing one building permit. Building a free standing building on Shea field is not a good option and it would require a completely seperate permitting process and building permit which will take longer to accomplish.

Since the topic was raised with BB, Wake broke ground on their $21mm facility in Fall 2014 with the progress below (expected finish end of '15). The fact that Wake has made this much progress (when BC has not even announced plans) is an absolute joke. Even Cuse who plays in a dome and has another indoor facility (Manley Field House) has a newly built indoor facility.

I agree with ATL, this has to be a funding issue despite what Bates states. There is the space (on Shea) and obviously the need as BC is easily worst in the conference from a facilities standpoint. This has been a main issue for a long time, even if an indoor facility was only made a priority when Addazio got here (I suspect it has been brought up before he arrived), for it to take 2.5+ years to get done (and still not even be approved/rough plans released) is crazy

Gladchuk as part of what is now Yawkey, had an indoor building all planned out. He distributed color brochures. The project had Fr Monan's approval but it was killed by Leahy.

Things may have changed with Walsh, but historically, it was always much easier to get things done in Newton than Boston.

In a way it will be funny when following Addazio leaving:

Temple gets an on campus stadium that is nicer than alumni built before we get an indoor facility built;
Temple improves its indoor facility, which is probably already nicer than whatever we eventually build;
Temple becomes a top 25 team;
Temple goes to a New Years day bowl game.

So you are saying Temple's administration and BOT are more committed to their program than Fr. Leahy and Marineagle?

No, I'm saying that after Addazio builds a solid foundation and moves on to a larger program, we will finally reap the rewards of his tenure. Then Bates will fire our Matt Rhule for interviewing with the Jets.

Addazio would leave after the end of this season if he finds another P5 job that pays similar money. He is not going to wait until he builds a solid foundation.

I read something on here about Asspaziano being offered a P5 job, and it reminded me of Shinskie leaving early for the draft.

the difference being that shinskie hasn't proven his lack of skill at the point we were losing him to the nfl vs. daz showing his lack of skill before we suggest he replacing saban
