Indoor Practice Facility

Postby eepstein0 on Tue Nov 18, 2014 8:31 am

If BC wants to take football seriously, I'd suggest they get one of these built in the immediate future.

The team having to go to Gillette to practice is absurd and awful for recruiting.

Daz is also upset by this issue.

Not sure if this was meant to be in red font, but the bubble only goes up in the winter after football is over.

and before we go down the lax/baseball on brighton/tailgating rabbit hole, there's about a thousand things that bc wants to get done before it builds an indoor facility. so i dont see it happening any time soon.

Presented without commentary from an EA poster:

I was told and posted on EA earlier that the Brighton Campus ball fields will be started upon completion of the new dorm presently under construction. And that the indoor football facility has been given the green light and will be built on Shea as part of the expansion of the Beacon St Garage. I was told the timetabe but can't recall the specific year but it was a couple of years out, The info came from soneone inside the Athletic Dept.

Nope, always in the plan, another full row of cars on all levels.

This entire idea is good.

That new dorm looks like it will be nice although might get some road noise from Comm Ave

Towards Shea or towards the Plex? I image they will do a lot of structural work as well because it is not capable to hold a full tailgate load presently.

Where is the new dorm presently under construction? The one across from Bapst to the North side of O'Neill? I thought that was going to be an academic building, since it has the faux gothic of Stokes

Ah, yes. Forgot about that construction as I try to avoid going near the church.

I think you are thinking of St Mary's- the Jesuit residence. It's been under construction for a little bit now.

The new dorm is where More Hall was (across the road from Walsh) and at the corner of Comm Ave and St Thomas More Rd.

The team having to go to Gillette to practice is absurd and awful for recruiting.

Daz is also upset by this issue.

Addazio mentioned this in his press conference yesterday totally unprovoked. This is the kind of crap that would make us lose Addazio to a mediocre offer/program. BC honestly deserves to feel any negative effect from not having a facility for dragging their feet. At least release a plan, something to show fans/recruits, just to pretend that you give a shit

I posted a few times earlier in the year, but schools like Northwestern have plans for one and Wake was getting attention for theirs going up during the Thursday night game vs Clemson. Maryland is also converting their old basketball arena into a indoor facility and I believe VT's is in process as well as UVA.

Onto Shea. Wonder which of the practice fields shown here will be indoors, or if both would be put indoors.

They'll have to open Brighton campus to tailgating since it looks like the entire mod lot will be gone

The lack of appealing tailgating options - Shea and mod lot going away...eventually (supposedly) - will hurt attendance even more.
