The point spread is not out yet, but my guess is BC will be - 4 to -6.

Notre Dame sucks on defense and we had them dead.

We had turnovers, but the punts, playcalling from our 1 by Topoo, well, we also shot ourselves in the foot.

Things in life have a way of evening out. On an even field CMU is a 4 point favorite since BC has erratic QB issues, defensive pressure issues and look at who we have beaten and who we have lost to?

They talk about Charley Weis having a signature win, and with that defense he has no chance.

Look in the mirror....

Northeastern 1-6? Kent State 4-4? Wake Forest 4-4? Florida State 3-4? North Carolina State 3-4?

Not very impressive.

Losses; Clemson 4-3, ND 5-2, VT 5-2.

Butch Jones has this Chips team on the cusp of the Top 25 and this Rich Rodriquez spread offense disciple is now one of the best young Coaches in America.

This is one polished and high skill offensive mind and his offense and team can score points.

*************************
October 31st – CENTRAL MICHIGAN –

Last Week: AT Bowling Green W 24-10 – Next Game – Toledo.

Dan Lefevour is a solid CFA FBC QB and high NFL prospect. To me he is one of the best players in college football today. He is tough and talented.

This Chips team was one pass away from burning TOB and Spaz in 2006 when they stopped pressure on a then green freshman QB --went into the ccushion and Spazoo prevent--- and Dan's last missile as a green freshman was intercepted. 74 remembers all Spazoo-outs. Sadly.

Hello Beantown...this kid is no freshman anymore and is playing next year on Sunday's!

This is one of the better MAC teams and programs seen over the last 4 years and CMU can play offense with anybody.

This QB is playing so well he is scary and his running dimension will present huge defensive problems for BC since if BC blitzes ----and our blitzers usually start from Maine---- Danny will pick us apart ----and if we might blitz correctly with his quick delivery, he could take off and run if not hitting his progressions.

BC could not stop Golden Tate and never listened to my defensive call to smash him at the line and double team him, so how are they going to stop the super back in Antonio Brown who is much better?

Dan LeFevour is the best College Football Player in America and no one knows. He should be in the Heisman Top 5 but is in bolivian and the MAC.

I said one of the keys last week was to stop Clausen to Tate and BC had a great chance. Tate beat BC and Spazoo and McGoo had no answers. Guess what.....The Chips have one the best WR corps in America along with Dan L.

Next to Virginia Tech, this is one solid experienced, polished team and is a Senior laden defense.

THIS CHIPS TEAM KNOWS HOW TO WIN, win on the road and finish off good teams. These Chips do not make mistakes and this kid Dan Lefevour is really something special. I see Dan L. and the Chips winning a shoot-out at BC and our home streak ends with Spaz and this dynamic CHIP offense and solid experienced defense.

I fear that the game day atmosphere at alumni will be worse than it was for the NCSt game, if that is possible.

BC is -3.

Should be a barnburner.

Would love to see a no huddle shotgun with Shinairski and beat fire with fire and our LArmond and Gunnell kids!

Just don't see TOPOO doing that.

This is the perfect game to just loft the ball up for Larmond (kid needs a nickname) and Guns - ALL DAY. It'll work. I promise.

BC opens at -4.5. Ouch.

Remember that LeFevour almost singlehandledly beat BC in 2006 after (GUESS WHAT!!!) the D went soft with a 21 point lead! He's for real and underestimating them = loss.

Hey guys! Looking forward to Saturday's game already. My biggest concern at this point is our DL, which is a bit banged-up, versus your running game.

Ever since we knocked out their starting QB Brunner on the second play of the game, LeFevour has been outstanding....he is a star and scares me. :pontif

It would be really great to win this big game and then have a bye week to get more kids healthy for the ACC stretch run. We need everyone at the top of their game!!!

Go Eagles!!!! :screamyeagle

PS - I forgot to mention that besides being a killer passer, LeFevour also has scrambling ability. Very scary. :duchE

Here's a little info on our stats and our last opponents stats prior to Saturday's game:
Per Vandelay Sports
Nick’s Pick: Central Michigan 44 – BGSU 35

Comment: On paper this game certainly looks to be the ‘MAC game of the week’ in terms of excitement and big-play potential by both teams. Here are some “wow” stats for the Chips; Central ranks 15 th in the nation in scoring offense (34.4 ppg); 19 th in scoring defense (15.9 ppg) while WR Antonio Brown ranks fifth in the country in all-purpose yards (1,338) and QB Dan LeFevour ranks 14 th in the nation in total offense (277.7 ypg) and 12th in pass efficiency with a rating of 154.16. The Falcons have some “wow” stats as well; BG’s offense has scored 104 points and averaged 492.3 yards of offense in the last three games...QB Tyler Sheehan threw for 376 yards and three scores last week at Ball State and now has 57 career touchdown passes, third-best in school history...WR Freddie Barnes leads the nation in total receiving yards (882)...Sheehan ranks fourth in the nation in total offense (325.0 ypg).

As you know the final score was 24-10. It was very windy at Bowling Green and that affected both qb's.

i hope we pass the ball a lot. Shinskie needs to get better at making reads and this is a good game to work on that. plus, with Haden slowed by an injury I really don't want to risk Harris taking any more hits than he needs to.

This sounds silly and I'm going to take some heat for this comment, but we shouldn't play any of the injured players (Haden, Jeff Smith, etc.) and should really concentrate on getting the running game going.

I want this team primed, healthy and ready after the bye week for @ UVA, UNC, @ MD

No heat from me. CMU is a good team, and I myself have taken heat for trumpeting that from Day 1. But BC is far deeper. There's not much of a dropoff, if any, playing Finch instead of Haden or--well, let's be blunt--anyone else instead of Smith. If resting a few banged-up regulars ends up being the difference in this game, we've got bigger problems going forward than we'd care to admit.

I have a lot of respect for CMU, and LeFevour. I do think though that playing at home will continue to be an advantage as it has all season.

I just don't know how much to rank their win over MSU. Before the Michigan game, it was like an entirely different MSU D. Either D'Antonio turned the ship around or the Big Eleven is just that mediocre. Given that there were rumors that D'Antonio was pulling a :toby for the Michigan rivalry, I think it might be a mix of the two.

I just took a look at College Football by the Numbers.

http://www.cfbtn.com/2009/10/central-mi ... llege.html

They are only giving CMU a 40% chance of winning this game. That hurts because they have done a good job of predicting the outcome of our games up to now.

They do see the game as being close with Boston College winning by a score of 24-21. That's one point more than the Eagles get for home field advantage.

If it's that close the Chippewas have a good chance of pulling off the upset. We are definitely the underdog in this one.

You may have to cut and paste that link. And if it doesn't show the CMU-BC game just look down the list of games in red on the right of the screen.

Jeff Sagarin says Boston College should be two point underdogs on a neutral field, and a one point favorite at home.

I'm hoping the attendance is the lowest of the season. As I see it, that would take the home field advantage out of play. Now if your coach would just hold out some of your better players that are a little nicked up and save them for the rest of your conference schedule that would also help. And please look past us - don't take us too seriously. Remember, we're from the lowly Mid American Conference, a weak conference according to one of your local papers.

Under. 3:30 game on Halloween won't be over until 7 and that's when kids will want to be drinking/ drunk for their night. People will leave early if they come at all.

Let Uncle Dave throw as much as he wants to so he can improve his accuracy and improve on his reads. We do that, this could turn into a shoot out with LeFevour.

See we actually play in a conference where, if we were to win out in conference (Clemson will lose again), we'd have a chance to go to the Orange Bowl. You, on the other hand, will be going to a bowl in Detroit or Toronto no matter what happens. This game means very little to BC. No worries though, we'll still win.

The Game Plan for this one seems simple. Their main weapon is the pass. Our main weapon is the run. We are bigger, faster and stronger. As much as I like wide-open offense, this is a smash-mouth run game plan. Control possession and the clock by running it down their throats and keep it out of their QB's hands. Plus, we can get 5-15 touches for McCluskey and Deuce to give them some experience and give Montel a breather.

I don't know if you are a faster football team. I guess we'll find out on Saturday. But if you are faster that will have a big impact on the outcome of this game. Speed, especially on the defensive side of the ball, is what did us in at Arizona. Our coach, Butch Jones, said he had never seen that kind of defensive speed while at CMU. I will admit speed is one of the differences we fans notice when MAC teams go up against a BCS program. It's one of the things we are now focused on when recruiting players for the so called skill positions. And with regard to size I will mention that some have said we are undersized on the offensive line, even for a MAC team. That doesn't seem to have hurt us so far.

Postby Bumpers on Wed Oct 28, 2009 6:05 pm

My wife and Danny L's older sister are best friends since childhood, and I have followed Danny since HS (he went to my HS in suburbs of Chicago).

Danny is a highly underrated QB, has a good set of both run and pass skills, and underrated as a passer probably because he is so mobile and has that option. FWIW, he is a kid that should have been recruited by BC - great catholic family, catholic HS and certainly would have attended BC.

His weakness, if any, is his O Line, but with our cushions, he has the opportunity to kill us passing on the run. The Spaz 10 yard cushion will doom us unless we contain him in the pass rush and don't over pursue like we did often to Clausen.

Otherwise, this will likely be tough back and forth, b ut both sides will score points. I see high 20s or low 30s for both teams as the final score, and I think Sagarin has it right. This will come down to the wire and could go either way.

With that said, if we come out sleepwalking because "this game doesn't matter" or because its Halloween and no one cares and no one shows up, it'll be a blowout. This is their big game this season, so they'll be ready.

Also, this will be my only home game I'll attend this season, so I'm really looking forward to it.

BTW, is it wrong to for a BC fan to use tickets reserved by the other team's player? Just asking.
