One of Oklahoma's five-star recruits was charged today with one misdemeanor count of acts resulting in gross injury after prosecutors say he knocked a woman unconscious in a Norman restaurant, and then just left.

I assume he's not a minor, plea BARGAIN, blahblahblah, anger management, blahblahblah, will sit out a couple meaningless games.

I also assume he'll be turning pro sooner rather than later.

This is another example of why Big 5 Power Conferences need special treatment for their athletes so off field distractions don't intrude on their day jobs.

The woman should delay her civil suit until he gets a big NFL contract.

Where this gets interesting if this gets treated as a hate crime because he was acting on anti-gay bias. I'd say the chances of Holder's Justice Department bringing a civil rights charge against a black OK football player in Norman is about zero. The chances of local law enforcement bringing state bias charges against Mixon would be less than that.

He sounds like a nice guy, good role model for Okies.

Does this amount to no more than a redshirt season? In which case: draconian punishment and really hurts Stoops & co., no?

Guess a year suspension is better then nothing but it doesnt sound like they have severed ties completely. More like Mixon is redshirting. Kid should be facing years in prison, how is this a misdemeanor?

With a misdemeanor he could just avoid Oklahoma they wouldn't try to extradite him for a misdemeanor would they? Transfer to SEC school which doesn't have any games booked in OKLA the next 4-5 years

Most states these days will not even extradite for a felony unless it is a violent crime and class C or higher due to the cost of acquiring a perp across state lines. I imagine a State Attorney General would make an exception for a high profile crime as well.
