SEASON PREDICTION THREAD

Postby Endless Mike on Wed Aug 13, 2014 11:37 am

Aug. 30 at Massachusetts W. Good tailgating but lots of empty seats. The "move home games to Gillette" weirdos don't show up.
Sept. 5 (Fri.) PITTSBURGH* W
Sept. 13 USC L. Not as ugly as last season.
Sept. 20 MAINE W. Good for New England!
Sept. 27 COLORADO STATE W
Oct. 11 at NC State* W. TOB has cursed them.
Oct. 18 CLEMSON* L. SPEEEEEEEEEEEED!
Oct. 25 at Wake Forest* W. Coach Dazz will put the Riley Skinner pic on the bulletin board to get everyone fired up.
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech * L. VT's offense will be shaky but they'll win thanks to all the lunch boxes.
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE* L. BC wins if Petrino drives the team bus and crashes it while getting road head.
Nov. 22 at Florida State* L. BC's D couldn't contain Jameis as well as Publix.
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE* W. Revenge!

PINSTRIPE BOWL
Northwestern W. Great turnout at Yankee Stadium and great ratings. :screamyeagle

FINAL RECORD: 8-5 (4-4 ACC)

We know it will get Tre Tarpley excited. But why the rest of the team?

Aug. 30 at Massachusetts W - More BC fans show up than if it were at Alumni because its at Gillette. Most of those fans will be dressed as empty seats.
Sept. 5 PITTSBURGH* W - In a game the pundits expect us to lose, we manage to win by going up for good in the mid 4th
Sept. 13 USC L - A late game surge by BC to go ahead is cut short when the neighbors call in a noise complaint and the game is delayed when the police show up.
Sept. 20 MAINE W
Sept. 27 COLORADO STATE W
Oct. 11 at NC State* W
Oct. 18 CLEMSON* L - We lose by a touchdown
Oct. 25 at Wake Forest* W
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech * L
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE* L - I'm torn on this one because I think Bobby Petrino is about to preside over the TOBesque downfall of Louisville
Nov. 22 at Florida State* L
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE* W - Despite being from upstate New York, Syracuse cannot handle the late November New England weather because there is no dome.

PINSTRIPE BOWL
Michigan L - EO holds a nametag event at Stan's. TRE is asked to leave after demanding to know where Yogi Berra is kept in the offseason. Logi and claver refuse to attend and instead watch the game at the Citifield McFadden's.

Aug. 30 at Massachusetts W. UMass is bad on a historical level.
Sept. 5 (Fri.) PITTSBURGH* L. I have a bad feeling about this one.
Sept. 13 USC L. BC had a more realistic shot at beating them last year and that went terribly.
Sept. 20 MAINE W.
Sept. 27 COLORADO STATE L. CSU is better than everyone thinks.
Oct. 11 at NC State* W. I won't pick Doeren to win a conference game until he shows us he can do it.
Oct. 18 CLEMSON* L. BC will struggle scoring points on their defense.
Oct. 25 at Wake Forest* W. Agree with TRE, Wake will be horrible this year.
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech * W. I think BC can steal this game. The mystique of Beamer and Magical Lane Stadium is fading.
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE* L. I wish this game were earlier in the season. Petrino should have the offense humming by November.
Nov. 22 at Florida State* L. Too much talent, and they'll remember how tough BC played them last year.
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE* W. Please win this game.

6-6 (4-4)

After being nearly perfect including scores last year, I'll give it a go again.

Aug. 30 at Massachusetts W. God help us if we lose.
Sept. 5 (Fri.) PITTSBURGH* W 20-14 type game. Ugly but grind out a win. Adaziani goes nuts on the sidelines
Sept. 13 USC L Think it'll be much closer. 31-24 type deal
Sept. 20 MAINE W
Sept. 27 COLORADO STATE L Have a bad feeling about this one for some reason.
Oct. 11 at NC State* L Meltdown
Oct. 18 CLEMSON* L I think well give them a fight.
Oct. 25 at Wake Forest* W Game will be much closer than it should be.
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech * L Blow out city I feel.
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE* W Strong bounce back at home
Nov. 22 at Florida State* L Not happening
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE* W Bowl eligibility!

FINAL RECORD: 6-6 (4-4 ACC)

Sept. 13 USC L
Sept. 20 MAINE W
Sept. 27 COLORADO STATE W
Oct. 11 at NC State* L

Oct. 25 at Wake Forest* L
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech * L
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE* L
Nov. 22 at Florida State* L
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE* L

Additional Predictions:
- We stay close with USC for 1 quarter. They get tired in the 2nd half and we lose 41-17.
- The ghosts of Conte take over Alumni Stadium.
- Daz starts thinking "Philly wasn't so bad."
- I start thinking "can Bon Jovi buy BC and move them to Toronto so I don't have to be miserable anymore?"
- Frank Beamer mostly just reads the newspaper on the sidelines in >50% of games.
- Bates says "we expected all of this as part of the rebuilding process. This is a young team with a lot of talent."
- Don Brown will annoy me.
- Daz will goof up clock management to the point it costs us a game (probably Wake).
- We never figure out what kind of dog that was.

Aug. 30 at Massachusetts W - Running away with it.
Sept. 5 (Fri.) PITTSBURGH* W - All that preseason 6th in the division bullshit fires up the team for the ACC opener.
Sept. 13 USC L - But up in the air in the 4th. Fun game and close loss = moral victory.
Sept. 20 MAINE W - Darius Wade plays sloppy in scrub time and many call for Flutie as backup.
Sept. 27 COLORADO STATE W - Big scare game, but come up with some home field magic.
Oct. 11 at NC State* W - Team actually starts looking good. 10-2 season begins.
Oct. 18 CLEMSON* W - Defensive slop fest we eek out. Pundits call it Clemson pulling a Clemson. We cream our pants anyway.
Oct. 25 at Wake Forest* W - Swagger building. Darius Wade plays the whole 4h and looks good doing it.
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech * L - Defense shuts them down, but things fall apart. Heart breaker.
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE* W - Daz as legend talk begins.
Nov. 22 at Florida State* L - This suddenly becomes a contest for 1st place in the Atlantic and a shot at Charlotte. Unfortunately the media attention and replays of last years surprisingly close game really pisses off an undefeated and #1 ranked FSU. They destroy us ugly, injuring Tyler Murphy in the process.
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE* W - Darius Wade comes in and tears up the Orange defense. Flutie is solid in garbage time. Feel good season conclusion.

9-3! Unfortunately Notre Dame steals the bowl game we deserve and we fall down the list to draw a 6-6 Maryland. But we get to embarrass Edsall again. 10-3!!!

Using win probabilities to be very scientific about it:

Aug. 30 at Massachusetts - W (0.99)
Sep. 5 PITTSBURGH* - L (0.40)
Sep. 13 USC - L (0.20)
Sep. 20 MAINE - W (0.99)
Sep. 27 COLORADO STATE - W (0.75)
Oct. 11 at NC State* - W (0.55)
Oct. 18 CLEMSON* - L (0.20)
Oct. 25 at Wake Forest* - W (0.70)
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech* - L (0.30)
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE* - L (0.45)
Nov. 22 at Florida State* - L (0.05)
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE* - W (0.55)

Overall - 6-6 (3-5) (6.13 wins, 3.20 in conference)

Aug. 30 at Massachusetts W - Not even close
Sept. 5 (Fri.) PITTSBURGH* W - Home and Night, Vegas early line of +9 is free money
Sept. 13 USC L - Will be closer than last year because at home, USC has too much talent
Sept. 20 MAINE W
Sept. 27 COLORADO STATE W -
Oct. 11 at NC State* W - Win but close game
Oct. 18 CLEMSON* W - Think BC wins this at home
Oct. 25 at Wake Forest* W - Major transition year for Wake, Freshman QB
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech * L - Consistently tough defense, not to mention MAGICAL LANE STADIUM
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE* W - Not sold on Louisville at all. New QB. New Coach. At home, very winnable
Nov. 22 at Florida State* L - NOPE
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE* W - Nerds gone, still good crowd, cold, BC pounds it out on ground

If Murphy stays healhty, 9-3 and all the Chick Fil A we can eat in ATL

Let's see, without seeing a snap of this team:

Aug. 30 at Massachusetts W
Sept. 5 PITTSBURGH L
Sept. 13 USC L
Sept. 20 MAINE W
Sept. 27 COLORADO STATE W
Oct. 11 at NC State W
Oct. 18 CLEMSON L
Oct. 25 at Wake Forest W
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech L
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE L
Nov. 22 at Florida State L
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE W

6-6 with this team sounds right. Then off to some .com bowl game.

Aug. 30 at Massachusetts W - I bet there will be some frustration in the first half like Nova
Sept. 5 PITTSBURGH L - There's always a chance the preseason buzz is wrong though
Sept. 13 USC L - Won't be as bad as last year
Sept. 20 MAINE W - Easy win
Sept. 27 COLORADO STATE L - Better than you think, but still a WTF loss
Oct. 11 at NC State W - Only reason they are expected to be better than BC is magazine sales/Tobacco Road bias in media
Oct. 18 CLEMSON L - If it weren't for the Spaz error they would be vulnerable
Oct. 25 at Wake Forest W - 1-11 is a real possibility b/c Utah St and ULM are pretty good, and Army might be OK this year.
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech L - Unless the wheels completely come off the Frank Beamer era, which is very possible
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE W - A WTF win
Nov. 22 at Florida State L - Playoff bound.
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE W - Not easy, but like that it's at home

6-6 vs. UTSA in the Hart of Dallas Bowl, which is played New Year's Day in the Cotton Bowl but is not, in fact, the Cotton Bowl.

Gotta go with Tobacco Road 5-7, if Murphy has stellar season without serious injury. The critical game should be SU which is usually a bummer - last good SU game was Andre's "career" game his soph year. If Murphy gets hurt early it will be along, long year. The pass offense is nothing but question marks, same thing with defense except LB. I'm hoping Murphy & Willis will be explosive running QB pitch but that exposes QB to a lot of pounding.

With the addition of Murphy and the speed and athleticism of instant impact frosh at skill positions, I don't see BC dropping off a ton on offense - in fact, i think they take a step forward. The difference between 5-7 and 8-4 and points in between in is on the defense. The only way that they win more than 8 is divine intervention; the only way they win less than 5 is a significant injury to Murphy.

We went 2-1 last year in games decided by 1 score or less, so it's not like we had a ton of luck that is likely to shift the other way this year. We also apparently only recovered 43.33% of fumbles, good for #100 out of 125. That's something that will likely balance out.

Any prediction should start at 3-3. That's where we are after tabulating the results from USC, FSU, Clemson, UMass, Maine, and CSU.

The other 6 are what will determine the season. 3-3 or higher and I will be happy.

Aug. 30 at UMass W. Ugly win. Daz pisses off some on the board by being excited that we're champions of Massachusetts or some shit like that.
Sept. 5 (Fri.) PITTSBURGH* W The QB tandem of Palko and Sunseri scares me, but the debut of the bigger Techmo Bowl guy inspires our boys to victory.
Sept. 13 USC W. USC mails this one in.
Sept. 20 MAINE W. Shitty game, but a fun day is had by everyone in New England.
Sept. 27 COLORADO STATE W. I completely forgot that we were playing these guys. Fuck Bradlee Van Pelt.
Oct. 11 at NC State* W. Toby left a pretty stacked roster, but Spaz's recruits are better.
Oct. 18 CLEMSON* W. Huge win puts BC in control of Atlantic Division.
Oct. 25 at Wake Forest* L. WTF
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech * W. Daz isn't afraid of Metallica and lunch boxes.
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE* W. A member of the Logo Army takes one for the team and goes on a romantic motorcycle ride with Petrino before the game.
Nov. 22 at Florida State* L. Jameis is in prison, but his backup still tears our D a new asshole. Luckily, Jameis' absence has already taken FSU out of the division race.
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE* W. A win puts us in the ACC title game and we get it because Cuse stubbornly continues to hand the ball off to actual running backs.

ACC CHAMPIONSHIP
Dec. 6 VIRGINIA TECH L. We lose to some shitty 8-4 (5-3) Va. Tech team that won the Coastal on some 4-team tiebreaker.

PINSTRIPE BOWL
Minnesota W. Thousands of Whalepants attend the game wearing Red Sox hats. We finally settle the 1940 national championship controversy with a win.

FINAL RECORD:
Regular Season: 10-2 (6-2 ACC)
Overall: 11-3

Aug. 30 @ Massachusetts W Dominant win. Willis runs for 100+, Defense forces 4 turnovers
Sept. 5 PITTSBURGH* W Close win. Defense plays big again, while Murphy and Willis do just enough to pull it out.
Sept. 13 USC L Going to be ugly again. One of the freshman (guessing Hilliman) has a bright game.
Sept. 20 MAINE W UMass all over again.
Sept. 27 COLORADO STATE W Very ugly, slow game but BC running backs finally break out for massive rushing output.
Oct. 11 at NC State* W The ground game keeps rolling.
Oct. 18 CLEMSON* L We'll hang in there, for sure, but they pull away late in the third. Bold prediction: Murphy has big statistical day.
Oct. 25 at Wake Forest* W This game will make or break our season. The defense gets to the frosh QB. Josh Keyes becomes an animal.
Nov. 1 at Virginia Tech * L Only because it's on the road, and well, Matty Ice plays for the Falcons.
Nov. 8 LOUISVILLE* W Big win for the program. The Myles Willis show.
Nov. 22 at Florida State* L Jameis rapes our D and since nobody cares about BC, the local Alabama cops turn a blind eye :elephant
Nov. 29 SYRACUSE* W We let it slip last year. Need this game to show improvement.

Final Statements:
1: The senior laden offensive line propels Myles Willis to 1400 yards rushing, and Hilliman for another 400 or so.
2: They also provide a solid base for Tyler Murphy, who throws for more TDs than Interceptions and punches home a couple more rushing TDs.
3: Shakim takes a bit to get acclimated. Billy plays his heart out but isn't the same. Charlie Callinan steps up, and will be ready for the Amidon role as SO.
4: Josh Keyes will be the best player on defense. Steven Daniels will make a lot of tackles.
5: Despite a lack of depth up front, and lack of talent in the backfield, the defense improves (will get after the quarterback and force turnovers)

Onyx Blackman {l Wrote}:Aug.

1. UMASS: replay of Villnaova opener form last year. horrendous first half. trail 13-7 at the half. Fall behind 16-7 in second half before rallying for 24-16 win. Umass hits us with trick play on forst drive to take lead. Murphy looks very shaky. BC kicking game is a mess.

2. PITT: hopefully this is similar to the Wake game last year. I say it is not. Pitt is better than Wake. Pitt has athletes. Bc always seems to find assinine ways to lose to pit. this is no different. Pitt 20-BC 14. Bc kicking game agains rears its ugly head.

3.USC: curb stomping. Pregame all the talk is ablout Bc's advantages, time zone, travel lenght, USC coming off the emotional Stanford game...and so on. Unfortunately I was at the coliseum last year and it was one of the 2 or 3 least competitive games I have ever seen BC play. Dazz will do the TOB and play to keep it close. It wont be. USC 37-BC 10. Murphy is on notice. Oline is not gelling as expected.

4. Maine: BC runs the ball over and over again, And again and again. 400+ yards on the ground. Bc controld clock and game. 34-13

5. CSU: huge swing game. CSU has a very underrated qb and a lot of experience returning. Head coach is former Alabama assitant. Big game for both programs. Bc has not shown in years they can beat a team with an above average qb. CSU 27-BC 20.
6. @ Rolly: Andre ran trough them and over them last year. NC St coaches will be playing it on a loop over and over again. BC comes in down after CSU loss, NCST is pumped for the game, it shows. Bad performance. NC St. 30-BC 10. Dazz's first crisis. QB dilemma. fans want Wade. Dazz has his first Porter v Ryan decision.

7. Clemson: Murphy it is: BC cant move the ball at all. clemson jumps on them. 17-6 at the half. home crowd is booing. Wade takes over in second half and propels BC with his legs. BC climbs back in it, but cant pull it out in the end. Clemson 27-BC 23.

8. @WF: Wkae is terrible, but so is BC at this point. Bc does just enough on the ground to eak out a 17-13 win. Brown's D, saves the day.

9.At VT: growing pains continue. Offensively BC is bogged down again. Murphy returns, D plays well. Offense doesnt . Vt 23- Bc 10.

10.Louisville: everything comes together for one day. BC beats a Louisville team that just cracked top 25. Defense dominates, creating 4 To's. Offense has a late drive that seals it. Bc 24-Louisville 14.

10. FSU: Bc got their attention last year. there will be sneaking into this game physically. Free Shoes. 45- BC 13.

11. Syracuse: Grinding game in the snow. 10-10 going into 4th, BC converts a turnover into a late field goal and surviver 13-10.

I watched Murphy and Wade at the Spring game. There will be no QB controversy, the gap is large right now.
