To be a PI, you have to make an affirmative obstructing move. Read the fucking rule book. You are certainly allowed to run forward off the line of scrimmage. It is also definitely not a PI if the d-back puts his hands on you while you have not engaged him with your hands. Rather than listening to Herbstreit, you might want to actually read what the rule says and the appendix to the rule.

Except here is where your argument is destroyed. Earlier in the game, Greene runs into Riggs down at the goal line in the exact same fashion. NO PI called on Greene and in fact, PI is called on Riggs, which was the corrct call. On the last play, there is no obstruction by the ND receiver, he runs into a DB who puts his hands on him and trys to stand him up. The only person who should be called for PI is the FSU defender. The good news is that I think the official signed his own death warrant tonight. All sorts of interesting chatter on some gambling boards.

CBS Sports is correctly railing against the call on their wrap up show. I'd listen to an actual college official over the morons at ESPN any day.

It was an obvious call because the PI wasn't just on 1 receiver... it was on TWO. Neither made any attempt to do anything but block. Didn't even fake a route. Just walled off an alley for Robinson.
