I like that Kelley keeps whining about this. Talking about how it was blown coverage and not PI. The fact is that it was horribly blown coverage and would've been an easy game winning touchdown... Even without the incredibly obvious two receivers blocking instead of running routes.

I also like the incredibly self-serving, blindly obnoxious argument he keeps throwing out there that goes something like: we ran the play exactly like we coached it, and Notre Dame doesn't coach illegal plays. Just beautiful.

This.

Put it this way... in an era of Millennial contrarian-for-clicks bloggers, there is surprising unanimity on the call being correct. Brian Kelly is saying what he needs to say in order to keep ND in the hunt for the playoffs. BTW... I still cannot believe that was ND's first road game of the season. Pretty bizarre that a team is allowed to compete for the playoffs without playing games on other school's campuses.

FOX Sports rules analyst Mike Pereira watched the tape and said officials made the correct call — both Prosise and Will Fuller's "only intent was to block" on the play, Pereira said.

On an aside... Golson is effing awesome. AWESOME. So much better than Rapeis. Reminds me a lot of RussWill. His lilliputian height is going to hinder his draft stock, but the kid is going to have the best NFL career of any ND QB since Montana graduated in 1979 (which isn't an accomplishment as he only has to be better than part-time starters Rick Mirer and Steve Beuerlein).

One has to respect what Kelly has done for ND, but his determination to win can sometimes take forms that embarrass his school -- as was the case Saturday night with the now notorious play of dubious legality on which PI was called. Same applies to Kelly's subsequent defense of the play.

Does anyone remember the first BC-ND game of the Kelly era, the game where Rettig was thrown in to replace Shinskie? It was hard to avoid noticing how violently Kelly was getting in the faces of ND players as they were coming off the field. Not a pretty sight. Presumably not a good recruiting advertisement either. To the extend that I have had a chance to notice, Kelly seems to have toned that down.

Still, if we are honest with ourselves, is there any one among us who would not want to be in the fifth (?) year of Kelly's reign at BC (thank you GDF)? Notwithstanding the hope that Addazio has given us for the future, there's nothing much that could justify having four Spaz years just as a means of getting to Addazio. At my age in particular, I don't accept such Panglossian arguments.

This should serve as a lesson to ND, you will get fucked on calls until you join the ACC as a football member. Until then you wont make the playoff because you will always get screwed.

Just as the ESPN announcers are questioning why Duke Johnson is still in a 24-0 game, he takes a hard shot, possibly to the head. His backup then runs for a TD. Is Golden that dumb?

To put it in perspective, lets remember that the Hokies soundly beat the B10's best team a few weeks ago.

That offense is absolutely miserable.

Let's hope Beamer stays there for a while longer.
