Moving away from the :slapfight , BC picked up a quality walk on LB from Cali (Higgins) who has a better offer sheet than some of Spazs later year recruits. It just goes to show u how :clownshoes :clownshoes Spazs recruiting efforts were during his last few years. :popcorn

There was NO math involved, the only reasoning is that 11.43 100 is not even close to lightning fast. 4.39 40 IS lightning fast. Even if all his speed is in his initial acceleration, there is no way he could cover that difference. There is even a track coach on here to confirm. Sorry for any confusion

okay i'll clarify, SPRINTING IS SPRINTING. 100=sprint, 40=sprint mile=jog
remember sprinting? that thing you use to be able to do before your hip replacement old man.

SPRINTING IS SPRINTING? WTF does that even mean.

don't you know that messageboardery is sirius bizness?

It's a message board. ATL has the blog. How people still mess this up is beyond me.

OK fine, next time I will use red font.

Best part is Duxbury is so adamant in his stupidity that he missed the part where the track coach (who ran against Jeff Smith) explained that Smith was really slow over the first 30 and lightning thereafter.

EA reporting a preferred walk-on commitment from Grady Higgins. 6'1-210lb LB from Santa Margarita Catholic in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Offers from a bunch of FCS level schools like Holy Cross and UNH as well as schools like Idaho, Idaho State, Montana State and North Dakota. Rivals has him as a 2* while 247 has him as a 3*

trackcoach {l Wrote}:As a track coach I don't see the correlation between an 11.5 100m and a 4.3x 40 time

I coached a kid in MA that ran 10.70's and 21.60's auto timed and he could only muster a 40 of 4.2 hand timed, which would convert to a 4.44.

All the recruiting camps and high school football coaches that rely on hand times (or averaging hand times of multiple timers) are just lying to the athletes to give them a better impression of the schools or trying to get more money out of kids for camps and services.

This is more or less exactly what my point was. I would never ignore the track coach

trackcoach {l Wrote}:
Corporal Funishment {l Wrote}:There IS a correlation between 100 and 40 times. It's just not so strong that it would be useful in using one to predict the other. A shorter sprint such as a 40 is much more about acceleration. A sprint of 100m is going to have more to do with maximum speed. Maybe Borgersen accelerates quickly but his top speed isn't that great. If you put him in a 100m race with Jet Smith he could probably keep up for the first couple of seconds then he'd get smoked from that point on.

Ran against Jet Smith. Kid had one of the worst starts in the state but had the best top end speed. You could be ahead of him for the first 30m of a race and by the time you were at 80m he was at the finish.
Scary to think how good he would have been if he ever got the first 30 meters of a track race down.

See above. That was a anecdote supporting everyone else's point. Except Quailman

Elijah Robinson named N.J.'s player of the year. As the article points out, it's quite the get for the Boston College "Golden Eagles." :81

The first 30 meters is all about how well you got out of the blocks, or your starting position.

This is the second year in a row that Robinson has beaten out Wimbush for an award. Between him, Jeff Smith and Wade... Daz has done a damn good job bringing in legit dual threat QB prospects (which was a concern pretty much everyone had when he was hired).

I watched some of Christian Wilkins' bball game in the Hall of Fame tournament over the weekend. Holy hell is that kid athletic. A legitimate 300 pounder who was grabbing rebounds above the rim, beating kids who weigh 100 pounds less than him up the court, and manhandling a 6'10" center guarding him on the low block. He finished with a double-double and was one of the best players on the court, when there were probably 6 to 8 D1 players on the floor at any given time. Aside from being a Day 1 starter, he would have been one of the most dominant intramural bball players in BC history.

Sounds like Ron Stone. Good to see that Rivals waited to make sure he did not pick BC before awarding him a 5th Star.
