My math is common knowledge dunce, 11.43 is not fast. Wouldn't even get him to states in MA. Your telling me that a kid who couldn't run fast enough to even attend states in MA (a generally slow state) is fast enough to run a 4.39 40? Jet smith was probably about a 4.39 and the kid ran a 10.2 100m. You people are ridiculous

Jeff Smith also didn't have the highest 100m in 2006, just the 200. In 2006, the guy that hat the fastest 100m ran an 11 flat. Smith had it the previous year in 10.65

Which Internet am I supposed to ignore, the colleges that measured his 40 times or the state association that measured Jeff Smith's 100? Or was it the Nolan Borgerson time upon which you based your mathematical model? Just need some clarification on what things are less reliable that your say-so and shaky mathematics. I coached a kid in MA that ran 10.70's and 21.60's auto timed and he could only muster a 40 of 4.2 hand timed, which would convert to a 4.44.

All the recruiting camps and high school football coaches that rely on hand times (or averaging hand times of multiple timers) are just lying to the athletes to give them a better impression of the schools or trying to get more money out of kids for camps and services.

Taj Amir Torres runs a 10.7 and is reported in the mid 4.3s. Regardless, there is no correlation between 100m and 40yd. There are fat guys in the NFL that run 5.1 40s and can't finish the 100.

There IS a correlation between 100 and 40 times. It's just not so strong that it would be useful in using one to predict the other. A shorter sprint such as a 40 is much more about acceleration. A sprint of 100m is going to have more to do with maximum speed. Maybe Borgersen accelerates quickly but his top speed isn't that great. If you put him in a 100m race with Jet Smith he could probably keep up for the first couple of seconds then he'd get smoked from that point on.

Thank you for actually having a brain and considering my reasoning, BUT borgerson's highlight tape doesn't show any electric quickness which is what led me to look into this in the first place.
