Just curious about the temperature of the board going into year 6.

What would it take in 2018 for you to get fully behind the Daz hire (i.e. extension and embrace Daz as the long-term coach)?

What would it take in 2018 to be fully in the Fire Daz camp (i.e. fire him now, not just having no expectations of taking the next step?

If you're already in the Fire Daz camp what would it take in 2018 for you to contentedly give Daz another year.

What would it take for you to be content with Daz getting 1 more year? 10 wins but no ACCCG?

If they make the CFP and he closes the class with a couple late 4 stars and starts the 2020 class in February with a dozen 4 stars?!

I don't expect to be in the football playoff or anything, but I fully expect Daz to Fuck up 1 or 2 games this season that are the difference between a very good year and playing in some 3rd tier meaningless bowl.

I don't care about 10 wins. Jags got 10 wins but couldn't win the ACCCG. If Addazio wants a contract extension, win the ACCCG game and get BC into the Orange Bowl. That he has control over.

10 wins in the acc will get you a New Year’s Bowl/exposure and eventually better recruits which help you win more games. Only the best coaches can turn around a team quickly so for most taking the next step is the best way to move toward what everyone works toward... a national championship. You first get to a bowl, then you get to 7/8 wins, then 10 wins, then hopefully a ACC title, etc. it’s taken much longer than I ever imagined that it would to get to where we are now but we’ve finally got a talented team so we need to take the next step and get those 10 wins.

10 wins did not get BC shit in 2007. 10-2 got them the Massengil Moisture Bowl vs Michigan State. Leeman Bennett told 10-2 BC to go piss up a rope because they wanted to fill the stadium in Atlanta, we're taking Clemson with their inferior record, fuck you BC. So no, I don't care about 10-2. I care about the Orange Bowl

Get back to me after the Wake Forest game, after we see if this season is for real or not.

This is what I'm coming around to thinking.

ACC Championship and I'm ok with an extension and accepting Daz for the foreseeable future. Maybe even excited.

9 wins and I'm accepting another few years and hoping the recruiting continues to improve. Cautiously optimistic.

7-8 wins and I'm feeling stuck with Daz and mediocrity, not pulling out the pitchforks, but perfectly fine with others (including Jarmond) doing so.

6 or fewer and he needs to be fired.

i will never like him.

that said, we will be favored in at the very least 5 out of the next 6 games (only chance of not being a fav is @NCSU).

-1-aa team
-backup qb
-atrocious b1g team
-team that just lost to 1-aa team
-team that was only 4 points head of james madison deep in the 4th quarter at home
-acc home game

6-1 bare minimum. 7-0 should be very doable.

I don't like him. Never have.

That said, I can admit that he's been doing a good job. He's been on the high-end of expected win totals 3 of his 4 seasons. He has re-recruited the roster (which is now solid up and down and getting back to developing players). His recruiting class for 2019 is his best yet.

He is a terrible gameday coach and comes off as a prick on the sidelines. I think both will prevent him from ever winning 9 or more games. But, I don't think we can pretend that getting to consistent 7-win seasons isn't an accomplishment given the dumpster fire he inherited.

BTW... this is from this week's presser:
"So I remember we were playing the Houston Gamblers in Jacksonville in the stadium. I played at a small Division II school, and the stadium was just on fire. It was sold out. The Pointer Sisters were playing. I could hear pregame and the whole stadium was vibrating, right? And so I remember we had this meeting, and the line coach said—it was a certain play we had; he said, listen, you can go through—I was on the offensive line—or you can go around to get him. I want you to go around. If you go through, you're on your own. What do I do in that game? For some reason I decide I'm going to go through the guy to get the linebacker. Well, I missed him, and he came up and he hit the back in the backfield. We don't score, it's all on TV, the whole thing. It's all my fault. And I say to myself, 'Oh, this isn't good.' Sure enough, I got cut on Monday.

"I laugh to myself because—what possessed me to do that? Honestly, I think it was like just the whole thing. It was big. You know, and I hadn't been in that environment before, and I just made a bad decision. That's a long story now, just to tell you that. It happens, okay. And it happened."

This follows through to his gameday coaching. He has an idea about what he should do... but, in the heat of the moment, he gets all jacked-up and makes terrible decisions. This has never been on greater display than when we played Wake, but perhaps most famously occurred when he was an announcer for the National Championship game where Clemson won.

I think Daz is trying to say that he was so excited. He just couldn't hide it. He lost control and he thinks he liked it.

Note to opposing coaches: if you want to psyche Daz into doing something reckless and stupid, just patch the Pointer Sisters into his headset.

Also, I am still not on board with this hire and before the season is over, this thread will be hauled back out of the muck on a board-wide day of melancholy and rage.

I will never agree this was a good hire, and this year I'm staking it out front of the season.
