StratEagle {l Wrote}:He's done ok but let's not just ignore the ball control running offense that significantly shortens every game...
Are the games really significantly shorter? BC's average T.O.P. this year is 32 minutes and 39 seconds.

I'd be interested to see the average plays per game. You could pretty easily attribute the TOP to not being able to get off the field on third down. Anyways, yes Donny has done a decent job with the talent he has been given, my original point was just that the total defense stats are a little misleading.

StratEagle {l Wrote}:going along with those numbers, Brown is at least making progress
2014: 5.05 yards per play
2013: 5.9
2012: 5.6
2011: 5.6
2010: 4.43

I'd fall back to a different argument too.

And why would you do that considering they played the least amount of plays in recent years?
I didn't realize I was still arguing against anyone.
basselope {l Wrote}:The ball control offense and TOP has certainly added to the effectiveness of the defense.
Plus the fact the current coach has a fucking clue how to coach....

This is a fair assessment at this point. This season was a lot of fun, but I think most of that fun was becuse of Tyler Murphy. The Dazzler's real tests start this coming season now that he is bringing in more of his own talent. And he's now had plenty of time to learn how to manage the end of a game.

"Most" is an understatement. Tyler Murphy is the only reason why this team was in a bowl game and not a 3-4 win disaster. Sherman Alston was fun to watch and Hilliman's emergence was a bit of a revelation for me but the simple fact is that Tyler Murphy did a great job of hiding all of the coaching staff's huge flaws. Next year, they'll have a green QB, a completely new OL, and the same crap on defense. The only way 2015 isn't a huge step back is if Darius Wade surprises us in similar fashion. The talent on this team is still bad.
