here's my top 5:

1 david gordon
2 matt ryan's "and lane stadium goes SILENT"
3 bj raja cyborging eric olsen
4 cloud getting stuffed on the goal line in 98 vs. ND
5 keuchly's INT return against Miami

I excluded Flutie from the list as I was only 6 at the time and didnt watch it live.

1. Flutie to Phelan - was in junior high for this. Watched live on tv
Ginormous drop
2. Gordon kick
Huge drop
3. Lane stadium goes silent
Drop
4. Ryan TD to beat Clemson his senior year
5. Too many plays to pick one. Mostly due to there not being many big plays.

1) Flutie - Phelan
2) Gordon kick
3) Neil Green's 75 yd. run vs Texas 1976 - got into Alumni and came up from under the stands just in time to see him race down the sideline.
4) Kelly Elias stops Texas 2 point conversion with about 4 minutes left to win that 1976 game.
5) Flutie's debut vs Pitt in 1981 - not a play but it was awesome to be there to watch in person. You knew good things were to follow.

Edit: it's a damn shame BC didn't think to save that scoreboard and somehow incorporate it into the rebuild of Alumni to add some history to the place.

Top 5 most memorable plays during my lifetime:
1. Flutie Hail Mary (good memory)
2. Gordon kick (good memory - and I was there!)
3. Matt Ryan TD pass to win at VT (good memory)
4. David Green fumble (very bad memory)
5. Ed Reed return (bad memory)

Honorable mention to Challenger being tackled in the ACC Championship Game

3. Ryan to Callendar @ VTech
4. Tony Thurman INT to end the game @ Alabama
5. Ryan to Gunnel @ Clemson, Brian Brennan's catch at JoePa's feat; Halloran to Martin in bowl game; Jet Smith KO return vs Clemson; Flutie's TD pass at the end of first half @ Alabama.

Bad
1. David Greene's fumble
2. Ed Reed's TD
3. ND goalline "stand"
4. Losing a down at WVU
5. TOB playing for the FG to tie in OT at Pitt

I'm pretty sure it was his Alumni debut. Regardless, BC was getting stomped by Pitt who I think was ranked #2 or #3 and had Marino at QB. Flutie came in the game and almost led BC to an upset.

Not necessarily the best plays since they've been covered, but these are some of my favorite:
1) Matt Hasselbeck fake field goal against ND
2) Josh Ott pick 6 at ND
3) Mike Mamula against Syracuse in 94
4) Jeff Beckely "roughing the kicker" penalties at Penn State
5) Lenny Walls' halo violations

Flutie's debut was at Penn State in a blowout, when he led them downfield in the final minutes.

In the Pitt game, the Panthers were ranked #1 and led 29-10 going into the 4th quarter. Flutie then led them on two quick drives to make it 29-24, and then drove the team to the 5 in the final minute before being stopped. It was a great game, and the first evidence of the magic to come, which was validated the opening game next year when BC blew out Texas A & M to open the season.

Yes Fluties debut against Pitt in 1981. Went to the game also on the spur of the moment with a buddy of mine. Turns out my brother and his wife were 3 rows in back of us with another group. He's comes down to me later and says "Who is this Flutie kid"? Little did we know that many great things were going to happen.
Yes I am a BC fan. Proof of this is my dog's name is Baldwin.

Don't forget the long Marzetti to Cronin wobbler that upset Syracuse in the final seconds of the 1964 opener at wooden Alumni. (BC's subsequent kickoff was the final play of that game.) This was our first victory over an Orange team -- one that was just a few years past a dominating national championship. I think they were ranked about twelfth coming into the 1964 season and had several backs that would go on to stellar NFL careers. This was at a time when BC had probably not been ranked in decades. It gave hope that BC could be nationally relevant again -- a hope that university management has now again put in question.

It's certainly not top 5 all time, but I have a special place in my heart for Dunbar blocking an extra point in 2OT to set up a home win against Clemson in '06. Also, the first Matt Ryan comeback--off the bench against Wake in a monsoon in Alumni in '05.

Some other randoms:

1. Int off a deflection in it to beat byu in ot at alumni in a great game.
2. Baylor hitting the upright on the extra opener in ot in an opener at alumni
3. Frank chamberlains tackle at the carrier down to end the game vs Syracuse. The first big win of TOBs career.
4. Field goal at the gun to win in an opener against Hawaii on the road.
5. Tim has coming off the bench to beat Pitt late at alumni on the day Pedro beat Clemens badly in the playoffs
6. Toals int. to fend off b. Kelley and c. Michigan in the opener.
7. BC defense holding late in Boise after blowing a huge lead.
8. Marty ice rallying the eagles in the rain vs wake. Which led to next weeks unc game that ended it for me and tob
9. McLaughlin jumping the fb for a sack vs. Maryland
10. Herzy destroying wake in Winston Salem but BC still needing a richie guns bomb to win an unlistenable game.
11. Last 10 minutes of fsu game in tally on a Saturday night.
12. Derrick knights long run to end a win in s. bend after a dreadful performance in the Ott game.
13. The sack at Clemson which set up the long fg miss
14. Akers knocking the guy out cold at the goal line in s. bend on 4th down.
15. The third fluties fake fg against Maryland.
16. The highly ranked TE from minny whose name I forget , who made a ridiculous one hand grab and run for a td against wake I believe.
17. Another TE whose name I forget doing a ridiculous dance in the end zone right before the half in happy valley. Gibbons?
18. Jamal Burke with a punt return for a td against vt on a Thursday night.

Shawn Halloran's fourth-down TD pass to Kelvin Martin to beat Georgia in the Hall of Fame bowl was always one of my favorites and should make the Top Ten at least.

This list, pretty much. Except for 5 I would go with Paul Pete to Gonzalez to complete the come from behind win with a minute left in South Bend in 2004.

Three other random plays:

1: The Good Rev. Al Washington going after the little bitch Brad Butler.

II: Matt Ryan getting homicided in Clemson, then coming back to life and winning in OT. (Note: There is some serious rocketcarring potential if you look closely at the YouTube video).

Tre: The real Karim throwing his only career pass while Rysman was receiving last rites.
