depending on the dirty jerz rebuild after hurricane sandy, the nova game is a distinct possibility

You probably can start planning it now, depending where on the Shore you normally go. From what I can tell, nothing between Bay Head and Atlantic City will be available this Summer. The areas South of AC were largely uneffected. The beach communities on the Jersey Coast Line (i.e. destinations Bay Head and north thereof) should largely be accessible this Summer... some communities significantly moreso than others.

Ocean City got messed up pretty good. I don't know anyone who goes to places like Margate and Brigantine so I don't know if it hit AC and then skipped down to Ocean City, but you are mostly correct as it didn't go any farther south than Strathmere.

Was in AC in December, it was fine as far as I could saw but didn't really go on the boardwalk. The casino buildings protected everything else (which of course are the parts that need to get swept into the ocean).

Agreed that the Nova game is a terrible season opener for Team Daz. Open with a "Good for New England" game for an easy tuneup or a premier OOC game where they have nothing to lose.

Unless I'm mistaken, this will be our first contest against Villanofun since the infamous Sweet Sixteen game where we went all Snakes on a Plane on the Scout board.

He has beaten them a combined 83-17 in his last two home openers. Nova isn't the Brian Finneran, Brian Westbrook FCS juggernaut it once was. That probably would make a loss worse though.

Actually, they probably are that juggernaut this year. They have been building toward this season for the past two--which happens to be the two years Daz beat them. as noted earlier, last year they went 8-4 and made the playoffs with an extremely young team. They have everyone coming back this year and are expected to be a pre-season FCS top 5 team. About the only positive I can take away is that they are projected to be even better in 2014 when they will have a senior-laden team with multiple NFL prospects. Hopefully, they won't have quite matured yet.

I'll also point out that Daz had better talent at Temple than he will this year at BC. Just writing that sentence makes my head almost explode, but it is true.

We'll see. They are young in the offensive skill positions and the running back is pretty good, but they are losing 1/2 the OL and 5 players from defense. Temple definitely had more talent than BC at a few positions last year, some OL and DL and RB most notably, but when they played Nova, Montel, who was by far and away their best offensive weapon, was still injured and didn't play.

Obviously, the beach clubs are gone and a lot of the homes there were severely damaged. However, I believe the beaches will be accessible.

Everyone in Jersey has been cancelling fireworks. Even Red Bank didn't have them last year.

That said, with all the damage, I don't particularly think that Sea Bright will be the liveliest spot on the Shore.

that's actually why sea bright cancelled them. they didn't want all the neu jersians from the bank flooding their shores.

sea bright was never the livliest spot on the shore. sure, they had their crappy ass bars and dank music venues but i tried to get the hell outta there before the sun went down and the cops came out. now its up to the beach clubs to bury all the debris and rebuild their lockers/cabanas/pools/infrastructure or the town's going down faster than a long branch hooker with a crack jones

Reasons why this schedule sucks:
1. Only 1 home game in October (this seems to happen every year. why?);
b) Home game on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend;
III. A home night game.

1. I feel the same way and have been asking the same question for as long as I've followed this team.
b) Unfortunately, I don't see this changing, especially if BB is serious about this being the last year of only playing six home games on his watch.
III. We'll be playing a Friday night home game every year going forward. Get used to it.

I prefer Friday night to Thursday, I just don't care for home night games.

Friday night home games are just as fine as Thursday night in my opinion. What I don't like is having an opponent like Wake, rather than say a VT, on our weekday evening game. Sure, we'll be on TV. But between our fanbase, our team's performance, and the location of Boston to the visiting team's equally small fanbase, we will have a sparse stadium.

It works better when a) we are good and b) the opponent is good/big name. The importance of the game combined with the excitement on campus of tv exposure makes for a good atmosphere. I don't think an early season match up vs. Wake wiht both of us coming off meh to awful years will do that.

I will say this, the last time I recall BC having a Friday night home game was against Uconn and Orlovsky and getting to campus was an absolute nightmare. Worst I can remember. I was on Beacon Street about 2 minutes form the stadium 45 minutes before the game, and by the time I parked my car and got into the stadium it was near the end of the first quarter.

Friday on the Pike after the 95 toll is miserable. If you're going to the game it's probably easier to just get off on 30 or go 95 to Rt. 9 instead of getting off in Newton. That exit is miserable for a normal game, let alone a Friday. And pray to god the Sox aren't playing that night.

I recall that as well... and it was a similar nightmare 2 hours before you were trying to get on as well. That said, if The Master is able to sell the town politicos on the importance of not having restrictions on pre-game tailgating hours on "student development", then it won't much matter.
