I think Washington also shows us that there is no super-assistant waiting in the wings for us to announce. It would appear to me that the reason we haven't announced the final assistant (or who the RC will be) is purely do to a lack of interest.

As an aside, it should be noted that Washington has spent time assisting in the coaching of Special Teams in the past. If Daz is truly going to take a Beamer-like role there, I could see him wanting someone to assist him (you don't want the head coach having to make sure the right personnel is on the field during every kick). That would mean that RB coach could still be open.

The final two vacancies on this staff are perfect for coaches who will be your top recruiters. Washington is still young, but I don't get the impression that he is going to a superstar on the recruiting trail. Furthermore, Washington has never had anything to do with RBs other than tackling them. By hiring him as a RB coach, you are essentially saying that you don't need any expertise to coach the position.

...unless of course Schiano hired a DL as a RB coach then HJS would spin it a a genius move since a DL has insight on how a RB can read and beat different defenses etc. etc. etc.

Hearing that he was officially fired last week. But someone in HR reminded Addaz that he needed to hire more minorities. So Big Al interviewed for the RB position. Which is a bit of a head scratcher. Wonder if that is what he is taking. Either way, glad to have him on board, but process is wacky. Also, not sure if it is confirmed, but Don Brown is also coaching DBs.

well, if true, this should give HomoJS an agenda for the next several months at least...

The longer this process drags on, it further emphasizes that the more things change, the more things stay the same at BC. Addazio is a fucking clown.

I have been pretty happy with the hires. My least favorite hire is mcgovern (and yes, I acknowledge that there was a time that he was a very good LB coach).

Purdue blundered by taking Bollman.

You gotta love how we bring in new coaches who either can't or won't recruit top players from their previous employer, yet every departing staff member BC has ever had has done everything in their power to bring kids with them. The latest is Bollman and Monteroso. Yet another reason why we should hire only coaches who will likely leave for the NFL.

Paul Pete continues to move up on the world:

Sources tell me Sacramento State OC Paul Peterson has interviewed with BYU.

What openings do they have? I know they fired their OC and replaced him with someone from outside the program, so PP would not be interviewing for the OC job.

Rich on staff is good for BC - it is good to have a BC warrior pass on the tradition. Also nice to see a good kid's coaching career progress.

I am very happy Al is staying and I really like the addition of Fitch, but Al as RB coach? That's not even the right side of the ball.

Come on, it can't be that hard. It's like, "hey, maybe you could run a little faster"? Or "Hey, run over there where there is no one to tackle you." It's like when Homer became a manager in The Simpsons:

Homer: [to staff] Are you guys working?
Man 1: Yes, sir, Mr. Simpson.
Homer: Could you, um... work any harder than this?
Man 2: Sure thing, boss.

I think this is a great sign for the career of Al Washington. The last person that played defense in college but was RB coach at BC.....you guessed it......Frank Spaziani. So let's please heretofore refer to Al as FDCAW, and then FHCAW. Loyalty bitches!

With Chip Kelly to the NFL, we have to start worrying about superstar assistant Ryan Day bolting right?

at the same time, bcffgcrd has to be worried about a chip kelly wash out at philly and to have it revealed that during his time at philly he got an eaglehead tattoo and therefore has kelly looking to bc as a landing place

I have to believe that Oregon will be looking up Jigsie's phone number. As long as they do not need any good recruiting or coaching, he would be the perfect candidate to blow the whistle in the great Pacific. I believe Jigsie must also be interviewing for all those NFL head gigs as well. Oregon has their work cut out for them.
