i'll admit Frye could end up being the RB coach or something and Rogers role might end up being assistant HC, but those guys are coming to/returning to BC as far as I can tell.

Chuck Heater is 60 years old and presided over the nation's #92 defense last year.

With Heater and Day - "The Hot Day Duo" -- BC is getting real crap.

This just keeps going down hill. Only silver lining is that McGovern is presumably gone.

Heater, a Michigan Man like foolish Mr. Bates, does have stops at major successful programs. But none of those programs are calling for Chuck anymore..So, of course, like Tranq and Spaz, he has come to BC.

How are our young recruits going to relate to an old fart DC like Heater? Is he going to show them a picture of Bo Schembeckler (sp??).. and the kids will say:

WTF!

Heater was a candidate for the Clemson DC job last year. He has also done a decent job at Temple. The retreads are terrible.

I feel like the staff hires are much more negative news than the head coaching hire. There was still room for Addazio to flourish by bringing in high quality coordinators, letting them do their thing, and focusing on CEO/recruiting stuff. Now, not so much.

And Clawson was a candidate for the BC job, according to some. So was JDF.

Need a Strength Conditioning coach badly. If the Springfield College supplies salesman that Spaz employed is retained, I just don't know what I'll do.

Look at what powder soft baby blue UCLA did this year. They transformed their identity in one season. That is what happens when you hire Sal Alossi who once had the gall to trip an NFL player on a punt return while he was the S&C guy for the J_E_T_S Jets Jets Jets.

Will Barry Gallup be retained? I had an old BC alum yap at me that this guy's time was up and his ass needed to be pushed out too. This old bastard alum was irate that we are letting the old assistants back on campus - Day/Rogers. He wanted all new blood. New f'ing blood. Including getting rid of Barry Gallup. What does Barry Gallup do? Perhaps it is time for this man to go away? How much juice can this guy squeeze out of being involved in Flutie's recruitment? Is he BC's de-facto "old guy mascot"? Every school has some old hanger on that knows all the ins and outs. Gallup is our guy?

Pretty much. He's been with the football program for more than 30 years as a player, coach and administrator (he missed most of the 90s, spending nine years as head coach at Northeastern). He's about the same age as Spaz. Given Addazio's roots and admiration for the history of BC football, I expect he will be retained in some capacity, but will not influence recruiting or on-field performance in any way. He'll probably be responsible for educating Addazio on who the major players are among the donors, local media, administration, alumni, etc...

He was good in 2011, very good (#11)

But something went wrong last year (#92) Not a very decent job in 2012.

We are more likely getting Chuck Heater 2012 then Chuck Heater 2011. Heater, of course, went from defending against MAC opponents to BE (and future ACC) opponents. Big drop off in results. If Heater is bollixed by BE opponents, I am concerned about his ability to deal with ACC

But what you point out - he was a Candidate for Clemson - is certainly a positive indicator. I did not know that.

I wonder how much of a budget there is to pay the staff. There was an interesting interview this morning on ESPN radio with Bret Bielema who just took the Arkansas job. One of the reasons he gave for leaving Wisconsin after winning three consecutive B1G championships was that Wisconsin had a $300K max for assistant salaries. He said he felt frustrated when he lost so many ass coaches, who left sometimes for three times the money. The SEC throws a lot more money at coaches. So if Leahey only wants to pay chump change for ass coaches, don't be surprised at what you get.

I like Chuck Heater (and I still like Rogers), but when it is all said and done, I think you will see that you will find that Addazio's staff will be less impressive than any of Spaz's.

Guys... I feel like a fool for believing BB would be different. But, once he went out and hired a re-tread... how in the world could you have been surprised with the small-time staff that will soon follow.

Right off the bat... Martin to Day and Bollman to Frye is a huge drop in prestige/resume. Whoever they bring in as LB coach will not be as accomplished as Guvs. Keeping Devine is an effing joke. All you need to do is keep Ravo as the RC and you'll have the worst staff BC has ever assembled.
