...so far...

three predicted 2-10
nine predicted 3-9
two predicted 4-8
one predicted 5-7
four predicted 6-6
two predicted 7-5
and three people maxed out at 8-4

for the record, I was not one of those three people picking 8-4

Nah, I think the schedule is easier now that the FSU and Clemson are no longer on it.

Thanks to Jagodzinski's failures, this is talentwise a 1-11 team. Year 4 after a traitor like Jagodzinski is where you see the biggest damage, so this team should be 1-11. We all know from Kuechly beating out Upshaw and Underwood that Coach Spaziani coaches circles around Nick Saban and whatever flavor of the day is out there. Now with Coach Doug Martin at his side, Coaches Spaziani and DeFilippo can finally disinfect the stench of Jagodzinski and his followers (Brace, Montel, Claiborne, etc.).

Saban would be 1-11 with this roster. Same with Urban Meyer. Same with Steve Spurrier. Charlie Weis might go 3-9. But regardless, if the coaches manage to go even 2-10 with this roster, you have to keep them together and let them build the program. Sign Coach Spaziani to a 2-year extension, and designate Coach Martin as his successor. That will give recruits the confidence that the program has continuity and stability--so said recruits can tell the Bryants and the Ball States and the New Hampshires and the Californias (Pa.) to go look somewhere else.

We are almost to July. Now is the time to call it.

BC beats Maine, Army, Maryland, NC State, Wake Forest & Miami. They lose to everyone else. They lose to F$U in embarassing fashion.

I will break down game by game tonight.

Miami @ Boston College

I certainly hope (given Miami's murderous history vs the Eagles) that BC isn't looking past them, but if there is anytime where BC is better than Miami, it's this time. And I'm not saying that just because BC defeated Miami last year, I'm saying because Miami just does NOT match up well with this BC team (or really any team in the ACC for that matter.)

Miami's offense:

QB - Please. This is silly. Jacory (for all his faults) could at least fling it down field and was a serious deep threat. Alas, he was just as much a threat to Miami given that so many of his passes were interceptions. Gone now. Whoops, they will really miss him this year. Okay, so who will be QB, Stephen Morris or Ryan Williams? You'd think it would be Williams (if he is fully recovered from back surgery) since he started for Memphis a couple years ago, but this is the ACC and the BCS, not mickey mouse division-1 football. So whether it is Morris or Williams, I think ALJ, Noel, Rositano, and Sean Sylvia are going to have a field day. The four of them have ALL faced much better QBs in college and much better defenses than D'Onofrio can throw at them. There will be a minimum of 2INTs for BC's defensive backs, particularly since Miami will be forced to rely on the passing game with Lamar Miller is gone.

TB - Mike James or Edwardo Clements, they both suck. Pick your poison Fisch, its going to suck. BC's defensive line is very deep and experienced, not to mention their linebacking unit. Kuechly will be missed terribly this year, but he will NOT be missed in this game.

OL - 3 sophomores and a couple of juniors (Linder and Henderson) both suck. One returning starter of any note. This line is going to look like BC's line from last year. Edebali, Ramsey, Quinn, and Appiah are going to kick the living fuck out of these guys.

Receivers - TE Walford is good. That's about it. The rest of this unit either graduated or left early for the NFL.

Defense:

DL - Three linemen made their way to the NFL. That said, Anthony Chickillo is a damn good pass rusher. Whether its Wetzel or Cleary, they are going to struggle to pick him up and protect Chase. Fortunately for us, Chichillo is ALL they have for a pass rush (which still may be more than what we have.) On the interior 6-2, 360 pound, Darrius Smith is going to be more than a match for White or Vardaro or whichever poor bastard will be responsible for moving him off the line. It's not going to happen. If Doug Martin calls even one interior running play on a trap or anything, I am going to have a fit. There will not be hole in the middle of the line. Best they run off tackle and take advantage of Shayon Green's inexperience.

LB - Jimmy Gaines and Denzel Perryman are very much the equal of KPL and Divitto. Both Finch and Williams are going to struggle terribly getting up field. I do not expect many (if any) break away downfield runs on this linebacking unit.

DB - They have a 5-star true frosh at corner in Tracy Howard. But for the very first college football of his life, 5-stars or not, Amidon and Swiggert, and CLJ are going to kick the living crap out of him. Even with McGee back this is a this unit to say the least. Expect Chase to have a field day throwing the ball (if he isn't picking his ass up off the carpet on every play being drilled by Chickillo.)

I expect BC to run roughshod over this Miami team. They damn well better. Practically the whole fucking team graduated last year, and they still couldn't beat BC even in Miami. This is a 3 win Miami team, proabably the weakest Miami team we've ever seen, a team that will cost Al Golden his job.

The Eagles socre a TD on defense (probably a pick - 6). That will almost be all the points they need to win this shitbag of a game. BC 23 - Miami 10

Maine at Boston College

I'm going to try and take this game seriously, but any significant player match-ups is going to be an effort in futility. BC's players will not be playing the majority of this game. I would be surprised if Rettig even takes the field, Josh Bordner will QB the majority of this game. Expect Suntrup to see the field the 4th quarter. What the fuck difference does it make, he already redshirted. BC scores 24 points in the first half.

Maine snuck into the playoffs last year, but they will not be doing that this year with both Warren Smith and Pushaun Brown gone. They relied too much on the two of them for ALL their offense. In an 11 team CAA, this Maine team is (at best) 5th best. I figure they will probably finish 7th. In any event, whatever offensive players Maine has remaining, BC's defense is going to hold them to (under) 200 yards of offense, (under) 17 minutes of possession, and less than 9 first downs.

BC 38 - Black Bears 7 (on a trash-time 4-qtr TD)

BC @ Army

Little guys. This is a team of little guys. In the Army, you can be all you can be, but on the football field, you can only be as big as the Army lets you be. For BC, half the team will have played against bigger (perhaps not faster) players in high school.

QB - Steelman. This will be his 3rd year at the helm. He's a damn good rushing QB for an Army team. He wouldn't cut it on any BCS team (sorry 45 pass attempts for the season just doesn't do it), but for Army he's damn good. BC's secondary may not be challenged, but their linebacking corps most certainly will be.

TB - The entire backfield returns for Army. That's saying something, returning over 4000+ rushing yards and 31 TDs. They are going to run the ball. Raymond maples is good, damn good. He COULD play at the BCS level. But he opted to do something better and serve his country. So far this is all great news for Army.

Now for the not-so-great news for Army (which is good news for BC...)

OL - Army has a 240 pound offensive tackle in Ben Jebb. They have a 250 pound center in Ryan Powis and he is barely six-foot. And the guards each weigh 260. This is a small man's line. Small. Ramsey and Quinn should be able to utterly overpower these guys. This should be a total cakewalk. But it wont be, beause Army was the #1 rushing team in all of college football last year. Yeah, Army is not going to get its 350 yards of rushing offense vs BC the way they do vs their normal slate of the little sisters of the poor, but they will go up over 200, maybe 250 yards of rushing offense. Add in (maybe) 50 yards passing, and 300 yards is about where they will wind up....

Defensively

DT - No they don't look too good. If you thought the offensive line was small with 240 pounders, this defensive line has a couple 230 pounders (one of them, a defensive tackle.) I shit you not. Best defensive lineman they've got is Holt Zalneratis and he weighs in at 224. Little, itty-bitty linemen. BC's O-line should run roughshod over them in much the same manner that they will have done vs Maine.

LB - Army has two linebackers that weigh 200 pounds Justin Trimble and Geoff Bacon. I mean, really? 1-A football, and 200 pound linebackers. BC's tailbacks have more speed, more weight, and more physical strength than Army's linebackers.

DB - The small just get smaller. There wont be a defensive back that weighs over 190 on the field. Ty Shrader goes 5-8".

Overview? This team did something BC failed to do last year, and that was beat North-fucking-Western. How they did that, God only knows, because I sure don't see how that was possible. This is another 3-win-football team that BC should be able to utterly man handle (particularly when BC has the ball.) Yes, Army is going to score some points. You don't rush the ball like Georgia Tech and not score touchdowns, but it will not be enough as I can't see Army's defense forcing a 3-and-out in the first half.

BC 31 - Army 17
- your entire life, as near as you frame it here, is a shameless, flabby-wristed asthmatic land-grab for as much quantity as you can get for as little expense as possible.
