Greer is pretty good and he's saying no offer but an in home Wednesday. Don't like our chances on Webb....think we end up with Julian.

Webb wouldn't commit to a team with one possible running back, but Julian is willing to be the third QB? I mean, we'll take Julian in a heartbeat, but... where is our recruiting savior, Daz? next year's recruiting will be telling.

I think what is telling is that a salesman needs to have a product to sell. You pick a football coach first and foremost based on how he is going to develop your program. The problem is that BC picked a poor-man's Ed Ogeron or Ron Zook because he sold some very foolish people on this being his dream job.

Remember when people were concerned about hiring someone like Greg Roman because his season may drag too close to LOI Day? I heard that Bates really was considering the new hire's potential start time as a factor. Amazing how Greg Roman being announced but not yet working would have landed at least as many prospects as Dazoo scrambling the country acting like an idiot for his new-found love of BC.

Ultimately, I would care as much about this recruiting class if it wasn't for the fact that Daziani was hired SPECIFICALLY because of his recruiting prowess. It sure as heck wasn't because of his offensive mind (which is suspect) or his offensive system (which is boring and requires talent counter to BC's history) or his ability to rebuild a program (as he rode Golden's coattails) or his ability to win in a BCS conference (4-7 while playing the lowly NBE). Perhaps, the idea is to have one camera stationed permanently on Vitamin A in the hopes that folks will pay good money to simply watch his PASSION.

Pretty much how I feel if we don't have a good class next year then there's something to worry about. Anyway according to EA here's the new recruiting spots for the coaches:
Brown:South Florida
Fitch:Central Florida,Cincy/Western OH
Big Al:Jacksonville and Tallahassee plus Georgia
Leonard:Virginia,Connecticut,West Chester(NY)
Albert:New York,Union County(NJ),Maryland, and DC
Day:Philly/Eastern PA,New England
Frye:Western PA,Indiana,Chicago,and Columbus
S.T. Coach: St. Louis and Detroit

So from this I'm assuming Govs replacement has the rest of Jersey. Also says every coach will recruit MA and there will be activity in NC.

Jags tried it with results too confusing to quantify as success or failure. The theoretical gems of his one real class were from Florida, Maryland and Maryland, none panned out for a variety of reasons, none purely football.

What makes you think we get Julian? Did the notebook talk about him favoring us or something?

I ask this because it was reported today that Doeren is going after the QB he recruited at NIU, Mitch Kimble. Mitch is going to visit NC State

Also Wisconsin is inquiring about a QB, not from BC....no idea who it is but the article is on 247

Rowland said BC feels good but I'm also connecting some dots here. Wisconsin is apparently looking at other QB. NCST is as well coming off of the visit I could be way off but clearly Julian was there guy since they offered him first. That and this system is a perfect fit for him and I'm sure he realizes that.

Did it really say that he is favoring us because NCS and Wisco are cooling their interest? That's a little disappointing. I was hoping for something like NCS just got a major transfer and Daz was able to convince him of playing time over everyone else.

Wendell Dunn and Damon Mitchell did not make the trip as they once planned to but Michael Julian, Raphael Webb and Silas Spearman did.

First, the good news: The Eagles feel very good about their chances with Julian.

Sources tell EagleAction.com that the Hilton Head (S.C.) quarterback is an excellent fit in every way. He could be the dual-threat Steve Addazio and his staff want and need to bring in. Everyone we've spoken with is surprised this guy doesn't have more options, but even if he did we're hearing he would really like BC.

NC State may be the biggest competition at this point, as we're told Julian isn't sure if he's even that interested in Wisconsin. But Julian visited NC State and at least one source told us the trip wasn't as good as his trip to Boston College.

We're not putting a timetable on anything but Julian is definitely one to watch.

As for Spearman and Webb, they remain on the radar and they are very interested in BC, but we are not sure what will happen. It's not that their interest is waning, though they do have other options. We'll just say this: Time will tell whether it's the right fit or whether it's best for both parties, BC and each prospect, to move forward or move on to other opportunities.

On Sunday night we caught up with Jack McDonald and coming off his official visit to UVa he said he was 100-percent solid with the Cavaliers. Of course, plenty of prospects have said things like that coming off official visits, but we get the impression McDonald has really firmed up. But you can bet the Eagles will continue to try their hand as he's the only major offensive line target, at least for now.

On Dan Monteroso went forward with his official visit to Purdue. We have not caught up with him but we can say we're getting mixed signals. On the one hand, the Monteroso camp seems to be indicating to BC that there isn't a lot to worry about. But that can't be the whole story.

Sources tell us the Eagles will be covering their bases and doing some research on potential replacement candidates, depending on what Monteroso decides to do.

The good news: Wide receiver is one position where there are some available options out there, especially in Florida where the staff is placing a renewed emphasis.

Monteroso officially decommitted and is down to Maryland and Purdue. Pretty sad losing a kid to those two shit programs. That said, it seems there is an impression that Dazoo has no need for WRs as they detract from his exclusively-run philosophy.

On the "exclusively-run philosophy"

Dan Mullen, who virtually everyone on earth thought highly of as an offensive coordinator including the very authoritative Florida message board posters who hated Addazio called for 329 passing attempts at UF in 2008 with Tebow (298 attempts), Brantley (28 attempts) and Newton (2 attempts) the next year, Addazio called for 364 passing attempts at UF with Tebow (314 attempts) and Brantley (48 attempts). So, while Addazio may be a shitty play caller, at least relative to Mullen, he called for more passing plays. He also had 10 more rushing attempts, but that doesn't defeat the absurdity of the claim.

Moreover, in his second year at UF, Addazio called for 381 pass attempts with the majority thrown by Brantley, next year fatty Weis of the schematic advantage only called for 320 passing attempts again with the majority thrown by Brantley.

At Temple Addazio's teams threw much less than Goldens. Unless you have seen Chris Coyer, Chester Stewart or Clinton Granger throw a football this sounds like support for the philosophy. But if you have you will understand why the scale is dragging on the ground on the Bernard Pierce/Montel Harris side and way up in the air on the Coyer/Stewart/Granger side.

I'm glad that Daz is focusing on QB (be it pro-style or running). I don't care if they bring in 4 freaking lids this year. BC doesn't have anyone behind Rettig and thats a problem that needs addressing. That said, I think we have a similar lack of talent at RB and along the DL (especially DE). I would have liked to see names popping up for those positions (instead of scrambling for yet another WR to replace Monteroso).

Watching Julian's tape, he's the most important target. He's got the size, speed, and the arm, The offense could be pretty innovative with him. I'm not ready to say he's better than Boyle or Lowrie though. Daz needs all 3 on campus competing this year for next years starting spot. Then, take 1 as a redshirt freshman and edit your offense to suit his abilities.

Agreed, all three are varying levels of well-regarded. Give them all a shot and see who replaces Chase. BC is a school that will generally need a good QB to be successful, so I have no problem with making sure we get one. My only fear is that Daz will slant the competition towards a mobile QB even if it's clear that Boyle is the best QB.

I don't really care about recruiting territories. The only true "territory" we need to protect is the Cincinnati area. The Northeast is our backyard so we will recruit there regardless of who is on the staff. As for other areas, I think we should just send coaches where they have connections and can get kids. I don't care if it is Texas, Chicago, Florida, California, wherever. Get 12 kids from New England/NJ/NY/Philly, two or three from Cinci and then round out the class from around the country.

As for recruiting territories, it would certainly help if someone has North Jersey recruiting ties. That said, Jersey is going to get harder and harder to recruit. Rutgers will continue to be relevant though I don't expect that they will land any more kids than they have in recent years. The Big Ten move solidifies the future of their program, but it likely will significantly cut their success (which was born exclusively from terrible scheduling). However, the Big Ten move will make all the Big Ten schools much more attractive an alternative than BC. BC should, however, still be able to land a few kids who are looking for academics. But, I don't believe we will ever see years where we land any more than 5 from the Garden State.

I am disappointed that we don't have anyone assigned to Cali. BC has a very good reputation out there. Cali sends a ton of regular students to BC every year. It has robust Catholic schools. And, BC FB and BB has proven that they can land top talent from the State. I'm not suggestion we have a guy who visits every school. But, I certainly would like one of these last two hires to have a connection or two out there and is willing to reach out to the Catholic schools (in a somewhat targetted attempt). I think the same could be said about Texas.
