Isn't there a stipulation as part of the auto-bid for the BCS that the league must contain at least 8 football members.

Would be awesome if somehow WVU and the Big East settled, nobody else can fill the spot, and the Big East loses its 2012 Auto-Bid...

The WVU exit shows just how fucked up and desperate the B12 is. This is a hell of a lot more messy and costly for the B12, which is probably coughing up a good portion of the money, than just waiting a couple of years for everything to play out like the ACC is doing. The B12 is going to get blown up when things go to 4 super conferences anyways. So, as Gene would say, it doesn't matter.

pitt and cuse may use WVU using as an excuse to also leave perhaps with less payment and attorneys fees and bad pub.

No fair waiting until November. You have to let the conservatives take a few whacks at you now, while we are under the delusion that we have a chance to win this race. That way, come November it will be even sweeter when you get to do your victory posts.

This is awesome in its ridiculousness. Temple fan trolling Rutgers fans, and they're all certifiable.

I think I will be actively rooting for Temple next year. Probably almost as much as BC. I know Notoriousorange is also in this camp because he wants to do sex with Steve Addazzio.

You should visit the Temple Rivals site where there is discussion about using the Big East invite as a springboard into the ACC.

Adding SDSU,Memphis, and know Temple to the BE means the BE doesn't really lose a step in hoops.

Stunned at some of the pollyannas on this board. People who advocate retreating/settling for the Temple/East Carolina level conveniently forget that this state invested almost $150 MILLION in football facilities to accommodate REAL, BIG TIME I-A FOOTBALL, not a Double or Triple A version and the taxpayers who helped build those facilities are being charged REAL, BIG TIME I-A prices. Want to talk all-in? Hold Gene DiFilippo personally, legally responsible for devaluing those investments and locking UConn out of the cartel.

Would literally be the only way BC could ever compete for a conference title with GDF still in the AD chair.

It really is hilarious. Anything that doesn't go their way is because the organization has an agenda against them (ESPN, Yahoo, CBS Sports have been named) and they should launch a lawsuit.

One of my favorite posters is that businesslawyer guy, he seemed lucid and somewhat intelligent until Pitt/Cuse/WVU announced they were leaving, and now... suffice it to say that his continued insistence that a court was going to order WVU to continue to play in the BE was pretty silly.

My other favorite is Carl Spackler, he's nuts. Tomorrow Louisville, Boise, Rutgers and Cincinatti(these are actually the best schools left) could leave and be replaced by Merrimack, Idaho, Elon and Swarthmore and he would find a way to spin it positively.

I haven't. What are you referring to?

I did a quick search using this fancy new thing called Google... and this is the only semi-relevant article I could find.
http://www.lvrj.com/sports/tv-deal-coul ... ml?ref=003

I guess, if the BCS falls away in favor of some sort of 4-team playoff, the attractiveness of the NNBE would be significantly lessened for the football-only schools.

I saw it on the Rutgers rivals board. A poster there says it was being discussed on a San Diego sports radio station and on twitter. I couldn't find anything on google, thus asking the question, dick.

Yes, the idea is that it would be unlikely so long as there is an AQ bid, but much more likely if the NNBE loses its AQ bid.

Which begs the question, whether the likelihood of a lost AQ bid is a real possibility, either under the current BCS system or some kind of playoff.

I wasn't being a dick. Was genuinely curious... as it could explain the sudden addition of Memphis and Temple.
I think there is a strong likelihood that the BCS AQ for the NNBE falls away. They simply do not need it any more if they are doing a 4-team playoff. The PAC12, B10, B12, SEC and ACC all have affiliations with the Rose, Fiesta, Sugar and Orange. The BCS only served as a mechanism to match #1 and #2 in those 4 bowls. In a 4-team playoff... 1-4 would play 2 games outside of those 4 bowls (they could be at the same sites but not in the actual bowl game).

I still don't understand why Boise joined the NNBE.

they were doing quite fine under the old system and i thinking moving to an AQ conference puts a lot more pressure on them to win the title as anything less will considered a colossal fxckup.

Found the thread on the RU site and listened to the link. I'm just going to say that it was pretty cool to put a name and a voice to 81.

The radio station had some guy named Bruce Marshall who runs some sort of gambling info sheet out of Vegas and he was going full retard. Talking about how CUSA/MWC was going to get more money than the NNBE. Talking about how BSU and SDSU won't make the move because of basketball. Talking about how the cabal is going to leave the NCAA. Talking about how the ACC will add Texas and ND.

As with most lunatics, there are nuggets of truth imbedded in the sea of insanity. I do believe that if the BCS goes away or the NNBE loses its AQ, that the football-only schools will reconsider their affiliation with the conference before ever joining (ala TCU). But, that's about as far as I'm willing to follow that crazy person.
