Dominique Davis sets two NCAA records

Postby h2o on Sat Oct 22, 2011 9:17 pm

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- East Carolina quarterback Dominique Davis has set two NCAA records for successive pass completions.

East Carolina's Dominique Davis completed an NCAA-record 26 straight passes in the first half Saturday against Navy. East Carolina won 38-35.
Davis completed his first 26 passes against Navy on Saturday, breaking the single-game record of 23 set by Tee Martin of Tennessee in 1998 and tied by Aaron Rodgers of California in 2004.

Well, everyone on this board gave up on that kid too early including me. He's better than any QB on our roster for sure. Mea Culpe.

If Dom Davis played here, he'd look just as bad as Rettig. The problem at BC is not the QB.

Dom Davis would be the third most talented QB on BC's roster and it wouldn't be close. Oh, and that record is meaningless. Tee Martin says hello.

I like Jags and hate Spaz as much as the next guy, but the QBs that have been recruited the past few years are a lot better than what Jags recruited.

Pass, thanks, on Dom Davis.

DD is also tied for second in interceptions thrown among all FBS level QBs. 10 picks and 12 TDs.

Rettig is not the problem on this team, and I'd take him over DD any day.

Try putting DD behind our O-Line. He'd be setting two NCAA records for the amount of piss puddles he leaves on the field.

But hey, who knows. Maybe he could've been something here. Good for him.

That Tee Martin team featured

RB:
Jamal Lewis
Travis Henry
Shawn Bryson

WR:
Peerless Price
Donte Stallworth
Eric Parker

D:
Al Wilson, Shaun Ellis, Deon Grant, Andre Lott

That team was ridiculous.

I was as surprised as anyone to learn that the NCAA actually does compile that stat.
Turns out BC has a hand in the record, no pun intended, causing Kansas State's Chad May to soil himself 7 times in a single half (1st) and 12 times overall in the 1994 Aloha Bowl.

That TEE Martin team was the one that won the national championship. Most people think it was the Ptarmigan Manning lead team that won it all.

Although I think the Eddie George OSU Team or the 01 Miami team may have been the most talented in CFB history...

In fairness, I believe that McGahee and Winslow were reshirting. Wasn't Olson on that team? And weren't Roscoe Parrish and Santana Moss the WRs?

Moss definitely graduated the year before. Parrish was a frosh on the team. McGahee redshirted the year before and was the backup to Portis. The next year was the year he finished 5th in the Heisman and blew out his knee against OSU.

Brett Romberg has been in the NFL since 2003, McDougle and Joseph were 1st rounders, Najeh Davenport was a decent FB when not pooping in co-eds hampers. Eric Winston is in the NFL, though he was a TE convert and IIRC redshirted that year.

Edit: Winslow played that year but he backed up Shockey. He was first team All-America the next year.

My bad, Kevin Beard was the other WR

Vernon Carey too. And Sievers, the kicker, was a 1st team all american.

That is probably the greatest college secondary in history, hands down, even though Taylor was the nickel back.

Hell that Fiesta Bowl game may be one of the most talented in history. According to IB's source, there were 37 of the 43 starters played in the NFL and 18 of them were first rounders. I don't think that even includes Clarrett either.
