Did anyone else see the tweets from BC that they spring game is cancelled.

Having an open practice on March 28th at noon to replace the traditional spring game

http://www.bceagles.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/031615aaa.html

Boston College has announced that it will hold a spring open practice/offense vs. defense scrimmage on Saturday, March 28 at noon in Alumni Stadium. This event will replace the traditional "spring game" format in order to maximize the team's preparation time for the 2015 fall season.

"Our job is to prepare our team for the 2015 season," Coach Steve Addazio says. "These adjustments are meant to best serve our team. We understand that our fans have received this information on short notice, but we know that ultimately they are dedicated to support us as we strive to win as many games as possible this coming season. As always, we appreciate the unwavering support of our fans."

smart move. if you don't have a spring game recruits can't see how empty the place is for spring games.

How does cancelling the spring game "maximize" the team's preparation time? Don't NCAA rules dictate how much time the coaches are allowed to spend with the players? Is there something else the coaches would rather be doing with the players?

Other schools have cancelled spring games with the same excuse of getting in another practice day. That said, I thought the crowd for the spring game last year was halfway decent compared to other years. Daz should have just held a controlled scrimmage while still calling it a spring game. Most of the people there wouldn't have known the difference.

Wouldn't think they would want to take the bubble down that early, and its two weeks before they were supposed to have the spring game.

Agreed it sucks.

Back in the TOB/Jags years it was the end of April, had a better chance of it being a nice day and got a nice crowd.

Is the bubble even going to be down by then / will I have to shovel out my seat?

we used to always have it draft day...there were a couple back in the day that were mid 70s and got a pretty good crowd as a result

You're going to have to watch it through the bubble...

idk how many people they would expect to get at this but if it was a manageable number, maybe they would just let people in the bubble to watch from the sidelines?

People are making this a much bigger deal than it is. Could this open practice really be all that much worse? It might be an excuse to save money, but if there is any truth to it better preparing the team, I'm all for it.

I never go to the spring game but hopefully they still have a stream for the open practice like they do every year for the spring game but im going to guess probably not.

only 7 OL

Vardaro has started for 4 years and still shows on the spring roster???

Strange that a 4 year starter at the school formerly known as OLU isn't even being discussed as an NFL draft pick, only Gallick is being discussed out of 5 graduating starters

That, or there's a 5th year in the bag he can't comment on publicly yet.

He probably meant Harris Williams who is out for spring. I think Sam Schmal is out too.
Although with the numbers we have, would expect at least 1 TF to be on the 2 deep.

From the fluff article on TOS:
Wade clearly #1 with Flutie & Robinson battling for #2;
The WR corp has been very banged up this spring, no names of course.
Mentioned every RB but Wilson after he was the star last week.

The game will be conducted outdoors as workers began deconstructing the bubble after Saturday’s scrimmage. “We need a permanent indoor facility,’’ Addazio said. “That’s a priority for us right now.’’

I kinda hope Daz starts ending every single interview talking about how much we need an indoor practice facility.
