Now that I've read the police report, I feel for Winston. It sounds like he was innocent all along. The testimony of his roommates was pretty consistent. I know they could have worked on their story, but the way it lined up with the accuser's story has me believing them. Also the fact that the rape kit didn't show any signs of drugs or enough alcohol to be impaired. The fact that her hookup/boyfriend at the time (the other sperm found on her) wouldn't cooperate doesn't help me believe her.

Carroll released a statement shortly after Meggs spoke.

"The victim and her family appreciate the state attorney's efforts in attempting to conduct a proper investigation after an inordinate delay by the Tallahassee Police Department," the statement said.

But if you read the reports, the victim failed to return numerous voicemails from the investigator, which is why the investigation was suspended for as long as it was.

There is not nearly enough evidence to bring to trial, and the story (more so than the consistency, which could be lawyer prepped) of Jameis's friends seems logical. But I wouldn't exactly say that I'm certain he's innocent.

Given some other factors and that she immediately went to the police, I discount the usual false accusation reasoning -- shame from friends/boyfriend/parents. Even though he was highly recruited that doesn't reach the standard of a false accusation for fame. She also immediately consented to a rape kit. It seems to me that she's either batshit crazy (like the Duke accuser) or telling the truth.

And IMO the friend (M.K.) and boyfriend's refusal to cooperate could cut both ways.

I, surprised more hasn't been made of the roommate's behavior. First, he walked in on them and tried to get a tag-team going (as he said him Jameis do that all the time with girls Winston brings home). Second, he then tried to video tape them. Remember when BC football was raked over the coals because some chick bartender came so loudly that a player was able to make an audio recording of it from the common room? He got charged with something like sexual assault. These guys got guffaws at a press conference going over how boys will be boys.
