A bit off topic here, but the boys from the banks(Rutgers) seem to be having an uptick with recruiting. What are you sensing out there. Are the NJ kids taking to Ash?

I haven't paid much attention until now. First, historically, a coach's first class tends to be very strong. He is selling a vision with no downside performance failures to negatively recruit with. So, an uptick in recruiting should be expected. Second, their rankings on Rivals at least is crazy suspect. About half of their supposed 3-star players had no significant Big 5 interest. A good example is the fat Tackle from Connecticut. https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/14485 He is rated as a high 3-star (5.7) with his best offer as Yukon. What that means is that whoever has access to the database is effing around with the rankings of RU kids. Fansites play these games because they feel idiot recruits will see a team ranking of 22 nationally and feel the need to hop on.

Jamal Beatty is another suspect 3-star kid who only had interest from ODU. He was offered to get his much better teammate. Once committed he magically was a 3-star player. Same with Edwin Lopez, Tim Barrow, Jonathan Taylor and Everett Wormley. While other offers are always suspect, we rip the hell out of Dazoo for it. No one would be happy with 6 of their kids. Essentially, only 5 kids in that class would be someone that folks here would be happy about landing.

HJS is pretty spot on. They have pulled a few decent guys, but overall, its nothing special, would be hard to say its any better than what BC has pulled to date despite these rankings. These sites all do this to appease subscribers and generate more revenue. Scout does it with Syracuse too.

In re: to Rutgers, just saw that they picked up Zach Allen at QB from TCU, think he graduated and can play immediately for 2 years. Gotta feel bad for Hayden Rettig (and Chase for that matter) for how badly their college careers worked out. Chase for more external factors, but Hayden left LSU for Rutgers only to get essentially recruited over for this guy who did nothing at TCU and had a way inferior offer list out of HS to Rettig. Because of Wade, Rettig will never be able to transfer here (I think he is going to be an academic Senior in '16 and has played 1 year after RS in '13/'14), so its kind of a moot point, just a shame I guess

Hayden Rettig (and QBs of his ilk) aren't coming here to hand the ball off 40 times a game no matter what the depth chart looks like.

don't forget that when they aren't handing off they're finding themselves in the middle of a threesome with a d-lineman and the ground

It wouldn't surprise me to see little Rettig end up at BC. Chase was a GA for a little while before he left to be on a practice squad (Miami's I believe).

As opposed to staying in Piscataway to never take a snap from center?

No, but there are another 50 or so pass-happy programs who would roll the dice on him.

Not sure that this has been mentioned before, but we're getting ODU's punter for a 5th yr or something.

Chase had his best year under Addazio and I know for a fact that Addazio and Hayden are close. Depth/immediate PT because of Wade will most likely dictate him not coming here, but BC would definitely be a potential destination for him otherwise.

They're both from Dublin, OH so I'm assuming so.

Kwity Paye is apparently visiting Notre Dame this weekend for their "Irish Invasion" whatever the F that is

Really strong group of players on campus throughout this weekend. Includes Randall Haynie, Joshua Turner, Brendan Bordner, Jeremy Ruckert, Johnny Jordan, Max Fisher, Eric Coley, Drew McQuarrie, a bunch of the top NJ schools whole teams(Bergen,DePaul,Creek, and maybe Bosco not sure on them) as well as a couple of BCs commits.
