Can we dispense now with the notion that Hafley is grossly inexperienced and is in over his head at this point as a head coach. Getting completely out coached by Mike Norvel should be a fireable offense. And spare me the lamentations about our putrid OL. Yes, they suck, but do they really suck worse than the OL at Jacksonville State? If they don’t then the coaching is putrid. If they aren’t, then recruiting is terrible both at the high school and transfer portal levels. What an embarrassment.

Even more depressing/astonishing was the fun fact that against this shambolic program that has become a National punchline, BC is 1-9 against Florida State in its last 10 meetings. In sum, we suck. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday and fuck this program.

I just got home in time to see the series where we lost the ball on downs. Shocked they ran pistol on 3rd and 1, thinking Good God just sneak it on 3rd and 1. But then Clownshoes on the O-Line.

Seeing now what a disaster this has been. How did PFF claim BC’s offensive line graded #2 in the nation through at least the VT game (as cited in that Athletic article by Bruce Feldman I think). I didn’t understand that anyway, but FSU’s really exposing them. Makes me wonder if PFF is another media outlet hiring people who can’t cut it as NFL scouts.

The playcalling has been bad the entire game. Before it was established that we were going to get killed and the OL was going to play like they were drunk (more like borderline dead from alcohol poisoning), they started the second series at the 1, got a gift of an encroachment penalty and then ran 3 times for basically nothing on 1st and 5 from the 6. Fuck that!

Then not sneaking again on 3rd and 1, which was 2-2 already this game, a dumb playcall to lose a yard and then a worse call on 4th and 2.

Meanwhile the defense hasn’t figured out how to even get lined up anytime FSU uses pre-snap shifts and/or motion. To be fair, they look like shit even when FSU just lines up and runs a play.

Complete fucking clown show all around.

This team is boring. They’ve quit and Hafley has lost them. Jurkovec doesn’t want to play. The Oline has given up and the defense is trash.

The line was terrible all day but that last play was all on Jurkovec. Should have been an easy conversion to Flowers.

Well that's a shame. As one of the greatest BC coaches of the 21st century once said, "it's gonna come together. And when it comes together it's gonna be beautiful."

I wouldn't go so far as to say this was a moral victory. It was more like a moral tie.

Using those TOs for the missed 2 point conversion and deciding, when it should have been obvious, to go for it on 4th down really sucked.

To paraphrase Cowboy Jack, Gee, our kids really played like heck out there... For about seven minutes.

Under Hafley, the first half has been generally terrible and seems to show a lack of preparation. Cost them dearly again today.

As someone else pointed out, those timeouts would have been lovely to have at the end, rather than wasting on a 2-point conversion and an obvious choice to NOT punt which we did convert.

The XP instead of a 2-point conversion that failed, plus the chip shot FG they passed up in the first half, would have been good enough to get the W even with a horrific first half and some of the worst play-calling I've ever seen.

Three points short but consider the run established.

In a down year for the conference we are presently last in the Atlantic division. What a fucking mess.

It is a well known fact that as a group, the Irish are a self-loathing group. Same for the Poles/Catholic Slavic types. And deep down inside, the Italians know that everything Dennis Hopper said about them in True Romance and everything Sean Connery said about them in The Untouchables is true. Given those DNA strands comprise probably 85% of the student body, this shitty, gutless, poorly lead rabble is the perfect team for BC students and alums to root for and this cock punch of a game was BC football most in touch with its true self.

You have to really, really hate yourself on some level to root for this program and to keep watching year after year when you know it will end in loss and despair. Apple picking or taking a walk in the woods are far healthier and life affirming and yet, here we all are, marinating in the misery of another loss and the waste of a perfectly good four hours that could have been spent on something much better. So God bless the lot of you self-hating donkeys, bucket heads and greaseballs. I dedicate this next large tumbler of soul-dulling Rabbit Hole Bourbon to each and everyone of you miserable sons of bitches. Fuck all of you, in all sincerity.

Had he thrown it on time, Flowers was wide open. Throwing when he did, yes, that was a tough throw.

So much for 8-4 season… that game was an absolute kick in the fucking balls.

Also, that’s why I hate going for 2 unless it’s the last drive of the game. BC kicks a PAT and then that changes the playcalling so that we can kick a FG to win the game on our last drive. Fuck chasing 2 points, nerds.
