John McKay was a far better coach and a far better comedian than Killer Kelly. With that said, it was positively delightful to have another would-be Tallahassee screw job by the ACC officials boomerang after the kicker missed the bunny.
Wide left today, wide left tomorrow, wide left forever. It is highly appropriate that in the game celebrating Coach Dadgummit, that Florida State would lose the big game by pushing an easy field goal wide.

Norvell is a terrible coach. I look at some of these esteemed programs and wonder how in the world they’ve wound up with their head coach. And then, paid much more to almost immediately thereafter fire Taggart… all so they can land Norvell? This led to a two play ND TD that seemingly put the game out of reach (before the failed comeback).

Norvell wasn't good, but Marcus Freeman was far and away the worst coach for either team. Up 18, savaging Florida State's overmatched OL (who best player was the 8th or 9th best OL at Notre Dame before he did the graduate transfer thing) utilizing ND's biggest strength--an extremely deep and talented defensive line--and move to a three man front with five linebackers, even though he only has three good linebackers--so that a QB who was panicking and making bad throws (resulting in 3 INTs) had time to collect himself and gain confidence, and also left ND's defense on the field longer in the swamp heat of Tallahassee with predictable results. I get that Florida State had two lightning strike TDs from distance against the more attacking five man front, but it also resulted in 3 turnovers and it was far more likely that given time FSU could grind out three good drives with 20 minutes left in the game, then FSU could catch lightning in a bottle three more times in that amount of time. The FSU drives also gave an FSU defense that looked completely gassed after the score that put ND up 18 time to rest on the bench.

Freeman has been considered a wunderkind in the college football world for the last two years. He is an incredibly talented recruiter. But the x and o coaching yesterday was horrendous, and as much as I would like to toss Kelly under the bus, he has never had much to do with the defense, even before he was persuaded to take a more CEO-focused approach to coaching. This game should have looked like last year's ND-FSU game--mid to high 40s for Notre Dame, mid 20s for Florida State, but for Freeman not being nearly as good at the xs and os as Clark Lea.

They aren't the only ones. A lot of teams in the ACC look down right disgraceful.

NC State looked really good. But Clemson might not Clemson anymore, at least not the Clemson we've all been used to over the last 8 years. I really do not think that Georgia team was world beaters and there was zero evidence that Clemson could do anything against them offensively. BC's very mediocre defense of 2-star players, they might be able to hold Clemson to 28 points of offense. And if that is the case, BC has at least an even chance of beating them in South Carolina.

No, from what I have seen this weekend, the best team in the Atlantic is NC State. We only have one game and that is not enough data points (3 games might not be enough) but from the little I've seen, Doreen has his team ready for the division. And given that UNC lost to VPI and Miami got pummeled by Alabama, I'm thinking BC's biggest obstacle in the whole conference be the Wolfies (this year at least.)

I thought VT looked pretty good. Lots of athletes.

Yeah. I’m going to bump this. Norvell is trash and FSU is stuck with him with no path forward. Who the fuck is running that shitshow? They’d be in such a better situation right now if they stuck with Taggart. First, he’s a better coach. Second, even if that meant similar results, they’d have the resources and political capital to move from him after 4 seasons and get a real, quality coach.
