the developments in this case. I grieve for the children and their families,
and I pray for their comfort and relief.

I have come to work every day for the last 61 years with one clear goal in
mind: To serve the best interests of this university and the young men who have
been entrusted to my care. I have the same goal today.

That's why I have decided to announce my retirement effective at the end of
this season. At this moment the Board of Trustees should not spend a single
minute discussing my status. They have far more important matters to address. I
want to make this as easy for them as I possibly can.
This is a tragedy. It is one of the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit
of hindsight, I wish I had done more.

My goals now are to keep my commitments to my players and staff and finish the
season with dignity and determination. And then I will spend the rest of my
life doing everything I can to help this University.

This is unfortunate, I was hoping for Paterno to lose it at a microphone and start throwing people under the bus and get the whole story out there. The whole thing is just awful. Some weirdo abuses kids, ruins the lives of so many more too. There has got to be much more to this story. The missing DA, the ignored reports. There had to be a lot more who knew this was going on and there had to be some talk going around for years. So much more should have and could have been done to stop this scum bag but as people go after Paterno and the others, I think they are deflecting some of the blame which is squarely 100% on the shoulders of the abuser.

If his goal was the easiest path to the most Ws on his coaching record, Schiano should have sprinted out of Piscataway a long time ago. He should have gone to Miami in 2007, when he was still one of the hottest young coaches on the market. He certainly should have jumped in 2008 to Michigan, still one of the programs that defines college football...

i went to a chain restaurant today for lunch and some guy "accidentally" touched my ass. at first i thought it might be accidental, i turn around and the guy is a Sandusky lookalike. i kid you not. i might have let it go but he continued to stare at me during lunch which further added to the awkwardness.
