BCSUPERFAN22 {l Wrote}:Lewis Bond and Dante Reynolds just committed. Reynolds a 6'0 WR from Chicago with offers from Nebraska, Maryland, Ole Miss, Cuse and Tennessee (and MAC) and Bond also from Chicago, 6'0 188 RB with offers from Maryland, Tennessee, Vandy, Cuse (and MAC). Both from Kenwood Academy

Great commits, would really love a few similar quality DTs and DEs. Is it me, or are these kids a step above the Daz recruits????

Daz would never had taken on such competition or would have waived the white flag and fled when confronted.
That said, Owen McGowan is still our highest rated recruit so lets not get carried away with Hafley's recruiting prowess.

Was this not exactly what was said about Daz when he started?

The rankings don’t mean too much look at the offer lists. Having said that McGowans offer list is probably smaller for the reason everybody knows he’s all in on BC. Stanford is probably one of the only ones in the country that would be even a slight threat to BC on him so then throwing an offer in makes sense.

Daz landed some good players. Seemed like he got very lazy towards the end (the level of player dropped significantly).

I think this is how it will go:

Would not argue otherwise but it was based on evaluation, not closing ability.

No coach is going to have a good success rate closing here. Pretending Daz is a bad recruiter is silly, always has been. I expect new guy to do a little better in terms of talent. I expect him to be light years better at coaching.

BC's X's and Os have been so bad, especially on offense, but also in the base 4-3 cover 2 against spread formations, that it wouldn't be successful even with Florda gator talent ... oh wait.

Daz was an excellent recruiter. So was TOB. For both, their problems lied in the coaching side. Either picking the right personnel or putting that personnel in the best position to be successful. Both started to fall off on the recruiting trail when it became clear to all that they had hit their ceiling and were not long for BC. In comparison, Jags was a very good coach but it was questionable how he would’ve been long term as a recruiter (there were highlights and noticeable concerns). Spaz just sucked at everything.

If Hafley can recruit at a TOB/Daz level and can coach at Jags level, we will be in the fight for the ACC title every year.

Recruiting
TOB > Daz > Jags > Spaz

Coaching
Jags > TOB > Daz > Spaz

If we're going to overload somewhere to bring in more talent, DB's an excellent choice. Beyond DB itself, many should be able to play well on special teams. From DB it's relatively easier to bulk up to LB, or switch to a skill position on offense somewhere while maintaining the speed you should find with DBs. Easier to do this than to take big position people and have them drop weight.

Uphill battle for this one. He’s actually from VA do not really a local BC is probably at best 5th in the race behind the VA schools, Michigan and ND.

Hafley surprisingly spoke pretty highly of Palmer. Maybe some actual coaching can help him perform better next year.

Cheek is underrated. His size and athleticism really makes him a 4 star prospect. Overall he is our highest rated recruit to date.

Go Eagles!
