With a ton of local programs already firing / about to be firing / should be firing coaches we should see some familiar names and recruits to be poached.

also, what's going on down in lsu is disgusting and straight out of the redsox playbook

What's going down at LSU is exactly what goes down in the SEC. LSU fans think that they can get back Saban if they just ask him. If not him, Jon Gruden, Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh would kill for the job. Worst case scenario is Jimbo Fisher being hired. So, you see, there is no downside here... anything is better than Les Miles.

As for the thread, I think it is awesome that there will be 20 jobs opening. It just means that if BC is looking in a year or 2, we'll have less competition for a coach from the MAC.

Jimbo is Les Miles. They are the same coach

Brett McMurphy just tweeted that Fuente will be the new coach at VT. Retaining Bud Foster and Shame Beamer.

Have to think Loeffler is on his way out, will be interesting to see if Addazio gives him a look

Good hire by VT, that guy can coach.

Great hire by VT. I hoped they would screw it up with someone from the family.

As for Loefler, I have a feeling he will be a Co-OC here next year. My guess is one of our older coaches retires and they make room for him by shifting other guys around.

Virginia Tech's offense has been fucking terrible year after year....what am I missing here?

I don't know how great of a hire Fuente will ultimately be, but congrats to VT for identifying the guy they wanted and landing him... instead of wasting time chasing Jon Grude... or waiting out coaches who want to first hear what other jobs may be interested in them.

I think Loeffler is awful.

Having said that their offense at BC this year looked good to me.

Co-OC with Fitch? There is no way Fitch can remain on this staff. There is also no way Loeffler is agreeing to a Co-OC agreement.

So... you are saying that Fitch won't suffer a demotion because he'll have a number of better opportunities????

Can you please learn how to read? You all are annoying me lately.

Fitch has to be gone. There is no way Loeffler will accept a Co-OC arrangement.

Matt Campbell to Iowa State. Or... in other words... we take a step backwards if we get rid of Daziani as the only MAC coach worth a damn just jumped at the first ever school to show him interest. [This space reserved for ATL to remind folks that his boy Pete Lembo is still available.]

A huge public outcry just kept LSU from making the dumbest mistake imaginable.

That said, there will be another mega-job opening up soon. Don't think there's near enough public support for Georgia to be shamed into keeping Mark Richt.

EDIT: And there it is. Richt out at Georgia. Now the carousel will REALLY start spinning.

The Rettig brothers are cursed. Maybe Hayden can do his 5th year at BC in our new offense.

He won't find a more open roster.

RU is going hard after Schiano (him being available has expedited things). Note, however, that they still aren't making B10 bank and with now 2 big salaries that need replacing, they are about 2 years away from offering a coach a monster contract. While Schiano's preference is to stay in Florida (read: wants the Miami job), he wants to coach next year more. If RU strikes out on GS, PJ Fleck (a former asst) is someone they will look very closely at (same too for Mario Cristobal (who they almost hired 4-years ago)).

The goal at most schools is to make the playoffs. Hence, there will be many coaches fired every year. Not at this year's rate, but a significant number of powe 5 jobs will open every year.

Not sure if this is always the case, but now more than ever... college success is inextricably linked to the quality of the head coach. When you refuse to pay market rate, the best you can do is live with a constant stream of career climbers or suffer in mediocrity with a coach who is a good "fit". Since Leahy and the BOT hate sports, they assure hires (AD on down) know that only "mediocre fits" are welcome. Remember that (and the BB search) whenever you think about Daz's future.

A mediocre coach who can recruit should be successful in today's climate of CFB. It's ultimately about the talent and the coach not screwing it up. This is why I give Daz a 5% chance of figuring this out, because the talent is there
