Coach Addazio Apology Thread (It has come together....

Funny thing about NCS... you think they'll be a solid test because of their ranking... which was based solely upon close wins against FSU and Ville. NCS's schedule is essentially the inverse of ours. We ran the gauntlet of ND-CU-VT early. They just started their not-as-tough stretch now. Objectively, we gave ND more of a game. Let's see how they do against CU. I'm sure Daz has another Wake in him and I'm not saying RCC isn't better than us... just pointing out that NCS's run to awesomeness this year hasn't been all that awesome.

This exactly. NCST got hyped because of their "big wins." But at the end of the day their most impressive win might be against a 4-4 Syracuse.

If Daz wants to impress us, he needs to beat NCST and Syracuse. If he does that then BC will finish 8-4, with 3 understandable losses to Clemson, VT and ND and one WTF early in the season after a bunch of injuries and some youth. That's actually something to get excited about.

If Daz wants to prove BC isn't a doormat, he better go 2-3 the rest of the way and win the bowl (if against a MAC/AAC) or at the very least be very competitive (if Mich St or equivalent).

Anything less and the last 3 weeks were just an enjoyable death rattle in my opinion.

This got me thinking about our history with Syracuse. This year is the 51st meeting. Our overall record is 19-31, 12-11 at home, 5-20 away, 2-0 at neutral sites.

This got me thinking about our history with Syracuse. This year is the 51st meeting. Our overall record is 19-31, 12-11 at home, 5-20 away, 2-0 at neutral sites.

Daz cannot fall to 1-4 vs. Syracuse. He talks about owning the northeast and 1-4 vs. Syracuse just doesn't fit with that message.

Every coach is shitty. A good coach is cognizant of his shittiness and puts himself in situations (through hiring, delegation, etc) where he assembles people and systems who compromise his shittiness, allowing his good qualities to reign in moments to which they are inclined to be successful. in this way, shitty coaches can either appear great or have great seasons. Ryan Day is an example of a constraint that makes a shitty coach successful (no blogboy sponsorship of this previous sentence - just truth).

Good coaches are just shitty coaches with high performance filters.

Further, shitty coaches can have a stretch of great seasons in situations where their shittiness is constrained, buying themselves the 'total control' fallacy where instead of expanding greatness, they remove the constraints that allowed them to be successful and it becomes, as the Russians say, ploja (and Daz, piepszche chestachka tostrachnya for making me use a Russian word).

Perpetually shitty coaches do the opposite - they override their constraining people and systems and let their own shittiness truly shine to the point where everything top to bottom stinks.

The question or whether Daz is a good or shitty coach, then, is the question of to what extent his shittiness is being overriden by people and systems around him. The last few weeks, someone bottled up his stink and set it down between the dumpsters, where its odor would not dominate the decision-making. The first few weeks of the season, his shittiness overflowed its horn of plenty, turning Alumni into a sewage swimming pool.

Next episode: All coaches should be fired.

Nice to see he took time during the off week to reinject himself into the offense. That Tebow jump-pass 4-and-1 play with Hilliman was Daz at his finest.

Daz will finish a glowing 6-6 after bludgeoning UCONN and being bludgeoned by the 'Cuse...then cue the youth and injury monologue, and how tough the schedule was, and "shoulda, woulda, coulda" and how close we were, but we reached the promised land by earning that MotorCity bowl bid making it so many out of so many and on and on and on....

Doeren's share of blunders helps mask the fact Daz has largely reverted (though I liked his freezing the kicker FG try, tho it didn't work). This team has top 25 talent (a credit to him) and top 60 coaching (not a credit to him). UConn sucks so badly, he'll be able to turn the narrative around again after dropping 6 TDs at Fenway on them, but yesterday convinced me again he's a 7 win ceiling guy. That's better than Spaz, so you know, nice base for the next guy - c'mon Jarmond!

What I have liked about the back half of the season is he stopped coaching scared and started taking chances and taking them early. 1) Why the fuck not and 2) if he can convert on some chances, then we can build a big enough lead to not have to have him make quick decisions late in game where the margin for error is thin. His statement that we "had to" throw the ball 3 straight times with 3 minutes left on the clock in a 3 pt game against NCSU being one of those situations we want to avoid.

So, hopefully he can build on this aggressiveness next year because he's 1000% coming back.

And we're totally going to lose to Cuse.
