Oh god i'm dying laughing. For those of you who don't know, Bob "Jeenyus" Diaco (HJS's dental hygienist) invented a rivalry between Uconn and UCF. They created a trophy and everything, but they forgot to notify UCF. UCF won and left the trophy on the bench without any fanfare at all.

During this week's press conference, Diaco got asked about it and went on an 11 minute diatribe about why he's not a nattering knobgoblin. He has great ideas like broadcasting games on nickelodeon (seriously).

BUT, as dumb as he is and as dumb as this whole thing is, he's still 5000% smarter than anyone in BC's marketing department. Credit to Hoffses to bringing it to the light of (ryan) day...

I said this at the time the conflict trophy was created, it reminds me of the leather hat trophy. It's getting more embarrassing as we continue to decline.

That trophy is perfect for the BC/Yukon rivalry game.

as bad as daz is, diaco is worse. at least daz was able to put together the first two seasons

the game in november might give the wake game last year a run for it's money

here is someone's last go around coaching candidate thread write up of Diaco, it's funny:

"Bob Diaco - Pretty much all you could ever want from someone who hasn't yet been a head coach. Runs his side of the ball flawlessly. Is known as a light's out recruiter and tireless worker. Young... energetic... great face of the program type. Has great recruiting ties to Jersey and Catholic schools throughout the country. Knows what its like to focus on kids who have to attend class. Only two knocks I can think of is (a) hasn't yet proven himself as a head coach and (b) could be Iowa's selection to replace Ferentz (this year or in the very near future).
Would he want the job? Definitely. First, it isn't all that often that an assistant at another program gets tabbed as a head coach for another BCS school. Second, BC is simply an EXCELLENT fit for Diaco as a coach, person and for his family."

then look at what this moron (it's me) said: "Also if BC doesn't make a serious effort to hire Diaco I am going to be unhappy. If they try and he decides to take or wait for a better job, that's fine, but I see like a .0005% chance of his hire not being great."

i mean, diaco was coming off leading a defense that had gone 12-0 during regular season play that let up more than 17 points once and let up less than 10 points 5 times. and we were where we were with spaz. anyone who says now they werent interested in diaco needs a historylesson

Daz and Diaco are both terrible and lead teams that are one-dimensional on offense and mediocre at defense, but Shirreffs is a better quarterback than Towles and Wade. That might be enough of an edge for UConn to win.

Great coordinator attributes rarely translate to the head coaching job, unless they have a whole other bundle of skills. Identifying head coaching traits is far more important for the AD than YPG and PPG. As fans, we are not in a position to evaluate coordinators for those skills, so we are left looking at whether these guys are mad scientists. But Urban Meyer is not a great college head coach because he can draw up a modified spread offense anymore than Jim Harbaugh is a great college head coach because he can run 3 TE and FB sets.

Won't the aforementioned have to predict the latter first?

The conFLiCT is the gift that keeps on giving. I hope Diaco renames the trophy the Civilaids BConfliCT and brings it to our game broadcast on Nickelodeon.

Problem is that if Dazoo somehow won the game, he'd treat it like it was the Stanley Cup.

In all honesty, with all the unhinged, nonsensical press conferences Diaco has done since becoming head coach, I have to say that the above was probably his most coherent (noting that the barrier is as low as the one that had HCRD being a better OC than his successors).
