You should simply rent RVs and park them in the newly-designated RV Lots. Tailgating's going to be awesome there.

I haven't seen anyone tossed for having booze in Alumni since GDF "retired." This includes a couple non-discreetly sharing a bottle of champagne over the course of Clemson game in 2012. When they weren't drinking from it, they rested it on the seat next to them. The only way security didn't see it is if they weren't looking.

Not in Boston but have stayed at the Hotel Indigo Boston-Newton Riverside.
Rooms were under 200 and it is right next to the end of one of the Green T lines. (I think it is D)

Travelling up for the USC game with my wife. I have not stayed in a hotel in or near Boston in years. While I'd love to stay at one of the down town or Back Bay hotels, we need quick access to BC and we need to hit the road early on Sunday back to Philly, so I'm inclined to stay somplace in the western suburbs closer to BC. Has anyone stayed at the Sheraton in Needham recently? Or does anyone have suggestions (other than the places mentioned in this thread) for a nice place near BC in the $200-$275 a night range? (Not the Newton Marriott or Crowne Plaza).

im pretty sure that's where the team stays the night before.

and im pretty sure the road team tends to stay in the newton Marriott

and I agree with you that the newton Marriott sucks.

a lot of people I know when faced with heading south early the morning after the game do the Marriott in Framingham. its a good price (130 that Saturday night) and right on the pike. makes sense if youre just gonna head straight to the hotel after the game / not go downtown and drink and whatnot. also gives you a nice 30+ min head start the following morning away from boston which is always nice.

I assume the quality of the place is good given how many people I know that keep going back, but ill double check on that tonight

I haven't stayed there but I will say the Needham Sheraton works well because the Needham Satellite lot is about a quarter mile from the hotel, so your game day transportation would be covered if you stay there.

Both hotels have been renovated in the last year or two, so they're both solid choices. As pointed out, the Sheraton Newton is right by the shuttle bus.

Forgot about that Residence Inn. It's new. Would be an even shorter walk to the sbuses than the walk from the Sheraton.
