Great trade for the Mets. They weren't doing anything this year and couldn't have collected picks if they offered Beltran arbitration. Now they have another top 30 prospect, a young SP.

Interesting facts about Érik Bédard:

1) He is known to have a prickly personality (drop the "ly" if you want) with both the media and his teammates.
b) He was no higher than third on the Red Sox's wish list (deals for both Kudora and Harden fell through before the Bédard trade was made).
iii) He is poutine-stained.
4) He is a very good pitcher when healthy.

At least Wandy Rodriguez got to be a star for one day. The Yanks will probably make a waiver deal for him since that contract will likely clear.
