WTF is Gonzo gonna get???

Holy Smokes....

Gonzo should go this year and get $7/160 so his 2010 salary triples?

WOW.....

I guarantee you that Gonzo has already signed a long term deal with the Sox that has not been announced for luxury tax reasons.

Precisely. They'll sign him on April 10th or whatever....they'll be under the luxury tax next season because they're shedding $55 mil or so in payroll.

Rangers may have to go 6/150

I still say its a pickem event.

I think Texas dropped a huge number on Lee for 6 years? 6/145

7/180 ==may not be enough for NY?

If Gonzo takes 6.5M this year instead of a signed deal before any injury or whatever, and the Union gets whiff of a delayed luxury tax deal or collusion, the red Sox and the Union will be at odds and that is not good.

If there is a wink and a nod, which I think is not true, then re-arrange the other money and avoid the tax.

Union, Gonzo making 18M less??? Methinks you might be in judgment error?

No, he wouldn't be taking less this year. They would just announce the deal on or immediately after opening day. Luxury tax is based on salary at opening day. They did the same thing with Beckett's extension, I think.

This Lee Agent has a lotta Boras in him.

Now the Rangers are sending billionaires into Arkansas to finalize the deal.

7 years from NY and 180/200 might not work?

7 was redonkulous anyway. Lee has broken down in the past.
6 was stupid money
5 was solid duw to a no competition market.
4 is what he would get in a big FA year.

Yankess should offer him $35/4 and 140M.

That is there only hope shorter and huge $$$$$$.

When the Davis Cowtown man shows up, you know the Yankees are sliding fast.

If he does end up with Texas, and he is stupid with the surefire 12-14 wins a year with the diluted and minor league AL West.... I say its 6 years and $144.7M.

The Angels, A's and Mariners are all 72-90 teams.

Here is the million dollar question (pun intended): does Lee want to stay in Texas as much as he's playing it off that he does, or is it just a ploy to suck even more $$ out of the Yankees?

Quite surprised the agent has not played the lack of a texas state income tax vs the insane NY State income taxes (7% STATE + 3.5% NYC) card yet

Jeter won that case and the tax is only every game in NY or 90/365.25, but still bite buy you cna deduct that on fed return to a limit?

My guess is 3.0% of Total Comp in NYC or 25% or so of the 11%-12.5% and then you can deduct 65% of that or maybe its a 2.25% total net to AGI X final rate.

This is the point, 74. Gonzo already agreed to his extension. It's a binding contract, even if it hasn't been announced.

I figured that out when I saw the opening day trigger.

Sox with that pitching are favorites.

Now, the Yankees need Grienke!

I know money means absolutely nothing to the Yankees but the way players are breaking down in their early-mid 30s, 3 years down the road they are going to have a ton of terrible contracts on their books:

2013:
Jeter (39) 16 MM
ARod (38) 28 MM
Burnett (36) 16.5 MM
Sabathia (32 -honestly, how long can a 310 lbs SP sustain it?) 23 MM
Lee (35) 25? MM

That's 108+ designated to 5 aging (some very aging) players.
Bush, George H W
Cosby, Bill
Disick, Scott
Flair, Ric
Griffin, Kathy
Khamenei, Ali
McCain, John
Pele
Soros, George

Texas Rangers are whispering Lee is staying in Texas????

Smart move....AL WEST is little league... Lee is a 20 game winner versus the other 3.

I heard on the Sports Hub that there is a third team bidding for Lee now, but they don't know what team.

Endless had the scoop.

Ranger players musta been shot in the ass in the woods and were tweeting instead of reloading.

Still AL West is a little league.

Also, I guess the Red Sox are trying to get Joe Blanton from the Phillies, which makes the Cliff Lee deal possible? Anything to keep him away from the Yankees I guess.

Russell Martin would be nice. I doubt it though. And I think the Sox can absorb Salty catching 120. Shit, let Varitek play 50 - it doesn't matter if they get Werth or Crawford. Sign a Molina for all I care.

Greinke will crash and burn in NY faster than you can say "Irabu." Speaking of whom...I find it funny that baseballreference.com lists Irabu's nickname as "Fat Toad."

Yeah, the Yankees must be getting awfully desperate if they're willing to give up significant assets for Greinke. It's just not the right fit.

This anxiety bullshit for Grienke is perfect for NYC.

When he warms up and looks a little jittery...

Wood and his family have moved back to Chicago full-time and are selling their home in Arizona in order to send their young children to schools in Chicago, according to a Wood family member.

The deal is not done yet, but, the source said, it's moving in a direction that would have Wood returning to the Cubs. The deal is likely to be longer than one year.

I guess wife --- like Lee loved and may be from Chicago??

Schools....Sounds like Mom.....

Me, I make every decision in my house and rule with an iron thick skin....I need that armor skin to absorb the daily torture and incessant beatins I have endured, RipkenStreak +7 now.

So Terri Hatcher...it is possible she may look almost as good as you in the smokin hot Victoria Secret red and white Nurse's outfit???

Just sayin as all...
