Clay Buchholz for Cy Young

Clay Buchholz for Cy Young

He is 15-5 with a 2. 26 era while missing close to a month. The way he was pitching before he got injured was amazing and he has continued it after his return.
he has been virually unhittable and coul possibly be something like 18-6, if he wasnt injured. He has become a dominating pitcher with 4 pitches and the second Ace behind Lester, even though Buchholz has been better. He has something like a 24 inning streak without allowing an earned run, 20 without a run. In the media, David Price and Sabathia are getting all the love. They play for teams in better contention but that shouldn't take away from what "Buck nasty" has done. Cliff Lee and Zach greinke both got Cy Youngs, right. Right now, he is the best pitcher in the AL and he should get some hardware for it. I hope everyone contributes their thoughts about how much they love to watch Buchholz pitch and I think he could eventually be a consistent 20 win guy. He is a lot like Santana and Pedro, so even when his fastball fades in 6-8 years he will still be good. he will always have his nasty change and he could always go back to his 12-6 that was lethal in his no hitter. I just hope Buchholz gets some props for his consistent, dominant performaces this year.

That is all.

He's gonna be a lock in a few more games. This is no secret.

It's probably a three way race between Price, CC, and Buck, though Lee and Cahill really should be up there. It's not their fault they put up great numbers and their teams' offenses/bullpens shit the bed.

CC's probably the frontrunner right now by virtue he's going to get 20 wins and he has a 40 IP advantage over Buchholz and a 30 IP advantage over Price and pitches in an absolute bandbox. Buchholz's low K total will probably hold him back as well. Clay's gonna need a huge month to get his ERA and WHIP significantly lower than CC's because his numbers are especially solid and he eats innings so well, no pun intended.

That being said, I don't have any clue where the BBWA will go in any year and was completely shocked when they finally overlooked win totals in giving the Cy's to both Greinke and Lincecum last year.

The most shocking one was when CC got the Cy Young when Beckett had better stats, won the world series, and completely dominated Sabathia in the ALCS.

If by "better stats" you mean one more win, higher ERA, less K's, and higher WHIP, then you're right. And about the WS and ALCS - the award is a regular season award and has nothing to do with the playoffs.

Sabathia is going to win it if he has a couple good starts against Tampa next month.
