Terry Francona is the Best Manager in Baseball

Postby BCEagle74 on Tue Aug 10, 2010 9:33 pm

He is really super smart and knows the game.

If not for him, the decimated Sox would be 20 games out.

Still have wild card shot since Tampa is Tampa and are having Sox type injuries.

Brett Gardner is alos overrated in the clutch.

True. Breet takes lots of great pitches???

Francona is the best.

That team should be 20 out.

He knows baseball and match-ups and how to play he game and certain teams.

I joked the Red Sox were muerto in April, but with Papelbon and some timely hitting and pitching and the Ray starters hurt....the Sox are in it now.

Papelbon is doing his best to prove your April statement correct. :puke

74 has a good point. Fracona rarely does stupid shit, unlike most managers.

The bigger mistake was letting Buccholz come out for the 8th. The decision to bring Atchinson just shows how crappy the Sox bullpen is behind Bard and Papelbon.

Not sure I'd exclude Papelbon from that. He's been bad by his standards this season, and they have been gut wrenching, "lost 3-4 games in the standings" type of blown saves.

I was seiously thinking of just putting Bard down there. While Paps hasn't been great this year he's been an above average closer. Watching him compared to Bard is a wholly different experience. Bard just tends to make things look incredibly easy while Paps likes to make the 9th an adventure. Hopefully the Sox aren't the one to pay him his $12 million arb award next year.

Felix Dubront wasn't exactly spectacular last night either. Those two HR's got out of Camden Yards mighty fast.

Doubront is one of the bright spots of the organization in what was a pretty rough year for Sox prospects and projects more as a starter than reliever anyways. I'm still pretty high on him becoming a decent 4 over the next couple of years.
