Aoki Leaving for ND?

Postby Dirtywater on Wed Jun 30, 2010 7:38 am

This is being talked about on the other site. Is it true? They are mentioning a VT assistant named Gambino as a likely replacement. I hope they give Englert a good look as he has done well in the CCL and is very highly regarded by all those who played for him.

It's pretty sad that we lost a baseball coach to the Big East. They're a mid-major in baseball. That would be the equivalent of the SEC losing a football coach to Conference USA. That being said, the guy who is being floated as the replacement, Mike Gambino, is a :screamyeagle guy and seems very impressive.

I don't know why he left. Money, the AD, facilities, inability to recruit? We can't keep anybody if we don't support the game. The facilities are high school level. The Big East as a conference is not as strong as the ACC in baseball but ND is not second fiddle to BC in this particular sport. ND has a beautiful state of the art 2500+ seat stadium. When are we building ours (I've given up) and what is the capacity going to be? If Aoki is married, his wife is going to kill him once she realizes what life is like in a third rate midwestern shithole in the middle of nowhere with horrendous weather and a crime filled downtown with a major narcotics problem. Outside of ND, the only exciting thing to happen there is the frequent run to the basement with every tornado warning threatening to blow your house to kingdom come.

If he left BC for Our Lady of the Cornfield because of the baseball field then there’s the door SEE YA. There has to be more to this….$$$$, the weird ND allure, because BE baseball doesn’t really= exciting. I hope the new field will be completed sometime this decade, but I doubt it will seat more than 1500

Aoki sucked and so did his staff.

Couldn't move runners, get runners in form third with less than 2 outs, try even a safety squeeze.

BC is so much better off without this clown.

Has the new re-tractable dome been finished with the hinged end for baseball on St. John's land?

BC is small potatoes and Jesuit humper tater tots to boot.

If Stevie D. can't get 3 big time recruits to go with Alex Murphy, why should he waste his time with low rent talent when he can play with the creme dela creme and win titles, be on TV and also move away from home?

Please wake up.

BC missed its window 6 years ago to be great in all sports by building a huge retractable dome on St. John's land as the centerpiece and recruitng jewel of all college sports.

TCU says the new stadium was the reason for the CWS and is building a new football stadium?

Wake up...BC and America need the great humble 74 vision.

We are losers and will remain so until lightening like a 14-0 season strikes and then what?

Do you still see Spazoo and Topoo getting the elite kids?

Please.
FALL 2011 WILL BE THE BEST EVER FOR BC SPORTS AT THE HEIGHTS!

Rettigun leading our Football team to 14-0 and a Title!

The Hoops Freshman starting a new Legacy!
The Icemen returneth for another shot at Title 5!

GO EAGLES!

ND has a pretty solid baseball program. Probably an upward move in stability of the program even if nothing else.

I hear that Gambino and Englert are the two leading candidates for the BC job. Does anyone have a view as to which would be better for the program?
