One game. That didn't matter. Farrell effed that up.

Meh, I'd argue it was more important than that given the fight for homefield. The Rangers and Indians are significantly worse teams on the road than at home.

Fair. The minute they clinched you have to get Kimbrel out because that dipshit can't pitch when he thinks there is nothing on the line.

I actually don't want home field overall, just against CLE. I don't want to see the Jays/Os/Tigers.

A Sox/Cubs or Indians/Cubs would be a fitting final World Series before the Trumpocalypse destroys everything.

Yeah.... Amazing, I'll take it!!!

Given the number of guys on the roster under 28 that are already established (Porcello, Betts, Bogie, Bradley, ERod, C. Smith, Leon) or proven that they can carve out a spot (Benitendi, Vasquez, Swihart, Barnes), it's a no brainer to give up prospects even that good for a 27 year old ace with a cheap ass contract for 3 years, and a 28 year old closer/set up guy that throws gas that is under arbitration for 3 years.

If they were a ways away, you take a flyer on Moncado and Kopech being Harper and Strasburg. But when you already have the core pieces of a young playoff team, take a chance. Plus, 3B is the position that they still need, and Devers is the closest to being ready there.

Given that you still have Young as the 4th OF, they need a DH and Sandoval insurance.

If they overpay, it will be Encarnacion. No indication that they will do so. I'm guessing Moreland or a late move on Bautista for short years.

"They didn't have room for all those guys," one assistant GM said. "And that's what gets lost here. Not all those prospects are going to actually play on your club. ... People forget that young major leaguers are more valuable than prospects. And the Red Sox have more of those good young major leaguers than just about anyone. And you don't have to wonder about them, because they're already in the big leagues."

John Farrell's man crush on Matt "John Wasdin" Barnes and his 3.98 era and his corresponding hatred of Joe Kelly and his 1.17 era has to be one of the fucking most perplexing things in baseball this season. Given that they regularly blow leads or need Kimbrel for 4/5 outs in the 8th, maybe its time to do the obvious.

I saw him live the other night and he looked just fine to me. I don't give a rats' ass how he treats media, especially not with a couple of the flaming d-bag bloggers that the Sox pretend are media. That's who originally set Price off.

That said, pick your battles, Eck would kill that dude.

That may have been the case but it doesn't change the fact that his elbow is hanging by a thread and that he will likely need surgery sometime next season. He has also been a pretty big disappointment and I don't see that drastically changing as he gets older.

He had a bad first season like most people in Boston, and he was hurt. He looks fine know. He may break at some point, but the injury is not affecting him.

Career .300 hitter that batted .293 in 100 games last year.
Honest question: Why so quick to get rid of him?

P.s. I see former cardinal joe Kelly is 1.73/.769 in what looks like a relief role. I always thought Kelly would thrive in that role.

Clearly the cold temperature in the Bronx last night brought about an acute case of carpal tunnel on Price's pitching arm. Just be patient and let the weather warm up first and he'll be fine.
