Yeah, this always happens to me when I try to stream online (usually on Opening Day). I get some national program instead of the game on WEEI. I was hoping there was something like Justin.tv (help me Justin!) that I can listen to at work. Otherwise I might be able to sneak out for a bit and watch some of the game at a bar since it's a slow day.

you may be able to see the whole thing as the weather looks to be spotty all through the afternoon/evening.

The TuneIn Radio app kept giving me push notifications saying I could listen to the game using the app, so that could be an option as well.

twballgame9 {l Wrote}:I actually think the Sox are going to be in the playoff hunt. They'll need to either get a huge season from Middlebrooks or pick up a right handed power hitter, but that pitching is definitely going to keep them in the race.

Keep them in the race is (like) 14-11, not 18-7. Forget the pitching, with all this run production, the Sox are kicking the living shit out of everyone.

Races don't happen in April.

The Red Sox are winning with pitching. Period.

That's not an HJS post. I was right. Since I take a raft of shit for being wrong all of the time, I thought I would just harp on this one.*

Salty was saying that the light delay actually helped him calm down. He was always a big game pitcher in Anaheim, but he never looked like that.

Most impressive was the back to back Ks of Cabrera and Fielder with the tying run on third by Tazawa and Uehara. Just nasty, and neither guy had a prayer of making contact.

Nice for the Tigers to show the world that defense matters. I know he's hurt but Miggy's range is about 6 inches.

4 of the 5 games legitimately could have gone either way late at any time. Crazy baseball.

Christ hansen, that team the Sox played last night was terrible. The murderers' row of Freeze, Adams, Robinson, Kozma and Carpenter is GOD AWFUL. Add Jay in there, and there are like 5 free outs.

I cannot disagree with some of this:

cardinals were awful last night.
Adams is really struggling this postseason.
Kozma cannot hit but can usually field (although you wouldnt know that from last night's performance).
Robinson is a bottom of the order guy.
Carpenter, Freeze are usually really good.

It's typical Boston, Farrell's overall was much more good than bad, but he made some idiotic moves in the playoffs. Even he thought they were idiotic, as he changed his mind from one day to the next several times (hitting Boegarts for Drew, yanking Lackey when he wasn't ready to be yanked)

Pitching wins in the playoffs. They would have been out in the first round again with that walk drawing lineup of Red Sox castoffs and 5 #4 starters. Now they have a legit ace and a solid #2 headed into a potential showdown with Detroit.'

All of that said, ridiculously good return for Lester, who they have a 50% chance of signing in the off season anyway.

This speaks to how much interest there was in Lester at the deadline. Tremendous haul for the Red Sox. And hats off to Oakland for going all-in this season. Might as well go for it after the Samardzija trade.

I also think this trade and willingness to chance losing Lester (or more so the lack of a legit offer in the first place) says a lot about what the Sox think of their farm. Tons of potential front line starters (De La Rosa, Webster, Owens, Renaudo, Escobar, Barnes), decent infielders (Cecchini, Marrerro), catchers (Vasquez and Swihart) and light-hitting OFs (Bradley, Betts), but other than Bogaerts, there isn't a power hitting OF or corner IF in the entire system. Given what is available, trading for a major league ready power hitter was almost a necessity.

I guarantee they sign Lester this winter. I'm glad the O's backed off because they would have had to given up at least Bundy or Hunter and then probably Gonzalez and a young bat. Too high a price for a short rental. Although if they had gone through with it, I would be shouting ALLZIN4NOW from the rooftops.

The O's will go the typical route and get a decent #4 through waivers and overpay for emilio bonifacio and I probably won't be happy about it.
