Ozzie Smith had your grandmother's bat for the first 10 years of his career.

Agreed. Different game back then. More important to be "strong up the middle" in the field. C, 2b, ss, CF.

the cards went to 3 world series in the 80's. pretty sure the fans cared about the product.

not sure if he was the ss for the world series winning team in in the early 80's. might have been templeton before the trade. i could've hired dick rosenthals research assistant or done an IBpedia before this post but who really cares?

hansen can tell you. he was getting molested during the day and watching the cards at night to soothe his pains in the early 80s. when they started to really REALLY suck in the mid 90s he moved on and replaced his cardnials fascination with entrapping uconn fans trying to diddle young girls

Sox get Mike Carp from Seattle for a player to be named later.

I guess he'll be the starting 1B when Napoli goes down with his season-ending hip injury sometime around May. Or maybe that's what Overbay is for. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. CATCH THE FEVER.

are you suggesting he would put it in the overhead bin? that's dumb... with the $100 million in proceeds he received from his last grill sale, i think he could afford to send it over via airmail (or evenby boat if he was scrounging for pennies)

I don't follow baseball, but Boston.com has been plastered with the name "Jackie Bradley Jr." all week which leads me to ask you guys if a Martin Short character is on the roster this year.

The Yankees are a mess right now.

Still good showing for the Sox to knock out CC in 5 though.

I actually think the Sox are going to be in the playoff hunt. They'll need to either get a huge season from Middlebrooks or pick up a right handed power hitter, but that pitching is definitely going to keep them in the race.

Okay weirdos, is this team for real?

18-7 with obscenely high on-base and slugging percentages. Was that to be expected at this point?

There are a lot of Sox fans here in Phoenix (believe it or not) and quite a few of them have been paying me a visit at my cube commenting on how awesome the Sox look. I know, the Sox typically crank in April and early May and its always the same response, talk to me in August. So I just want to measure my expectations here.

Keep them in the race is (like) 14-11, not 18-7. Forget the pitching, with all this run production, the Sox are kicking the living shit out of everyone.

Races don't happen in April.

The Red Sox are winning with pitching. Period.

Pitching, Period?

They have the second best RS in the league at 5.12 per game, and the second best RA in the league at 3.52 per game. If they keep up their outragous pace, they win 116 games this year.
