Keep them in the race is (like) 14-11, not 18-7. Forget the pitching, with all this run production, the Sox are kicking the living shit out of everyone.

Races don't happen in April.

The Red Sox are winning with pitching. Period.

Pitching, Period?

They have the second best RS in the league at 5.12 per game, and the second best RA in the league at 3.52 per game. If they keep up their outragous pace, they win 116 games this year.

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

94 wins.

innocentbystander {l Wrote}:Okay weirdos, is this team for real?

18-7 with obscenely high on-base and slugging percentages. Was that to be expected at this point?

There are a lot of Sox fans here in Phoenix (believe it or not) and quite a few of them have been paying me a visit at my cube commenting on how awesome the Sox look. I know, the Sox typically crank in April and early May and its always the same response, talk to me in August. So I just want to measure my expectations here.

Just read the box scores.

Three way trade:

Red Sox get Jake Peavy
White Sox get Avisail Garcia
Tigers get Jose Iglesias

http://www.masslive.com/redsox/index.ssf/2013/07/red_sox_white_sox_agree_on_jak.html

Jackie Bradley was pulled from the Paw Sox lineup tonight, so he may be involved in a trade too.

Last night on BBTN:

Kurkjian/Stark: Rumor was the Phillies wanted Workman in the Lee deal

Ravech: How'd that work out for them?

Kruk: He's pitching for the Sox tonight, that's how.

Pretty sure they just moved on the Peavy when the Phillies started sniffing around Bogaerts, De La Rosa, Webster and Workman.

Dale Arnold tweeted that JBJ and Ranaudo were taken out and the Marlins had taken Giancarlo Stanton out, and of course that started a lot of buzz even though it was nothing. That would have been amazing.

So are they trading for Michael Young or are they going with some combo of Middlebrooks/Bogarts/Holt/Drew at 3b and SS? I like the Peavy deal but I still think they need another bat worse than they needed another #3 starter.

They don't need a bat or a left side of the INF player. Either Middlebrooks or Bogaerts will be next to Drew soon. Michael Young sucks.

Was at the game Saturday night. Peavy's stuff is filthy and by far the best stuff on the team.

Why, because his kid killed someone? Doubt it. I don't think his kid's issues were much of a secret.

Buddy of mine lived with him for ~ 2 years after BC. This is the 2nd person I know that has a direct association with someone who has killed someone. The other being a guy who was the Craiglist Killer's lab partner at med school.

Ever since that shit happened, he started hitting, so god bless him. That team rolls when he and Middlebrooks are hot enough to protect all the lefties and singles hitters.

teddy,

I have to give you credit here. It appears your 94 wins predition for our Red Sox might just wind up correct (give or take a game or two in either direction.) Here is it almost September, and at 78-55 they are just about on pace to go 16-13 down the home stretch.

I would also note, no space, that they are doing it with pitching as much or more than offense (although the offense has been good).

Buchholz, 1.71 era, 1.02 whip, 84 IP
Lackey, 3.17 era, 1.18 whip, 147 IP
Peavy, 3.31 era, 0.98 whip, 32 IP
Dubront, 3.74 era, 1.37 whip, 146 IP
Lester, 3.97 era, 1.31 whip, 172 IP

Only Dempster has been bad, and as a 5-6 starter with that offense, its good enough: 4.77 era, 1.47 whip, 145 IP

Also, despite season ending injuries to their top two closer candidates, as well as a dominant strike out lefty, the bullpen has been very good, with one of the best 1-2 Japanese punches of all time.

Uehara 1.24 era, 0.66 whip, 13 S, 58 IP
Tazawa, 2.75 era, 1.75 whip, 59 IP

Add in Thornton (2.08 era) and Breslow (2.17 era in 45 IP) and that pen has been okay. Hopefully some combination of Rubby and Beato can give them a righty besides the two at the back end and some long relief.

Pitching rarely slumps, no space. 94 wins may have been conservative.

I assume anywhere you can stream 'EEI. I know 98.5 has an app or is at least associated with an app but I'm not sure about the other radio station in Boston (and not too many other people are if you've seen the recent ratings).

as a heads up mlb usually blocks the streams to radio stations during games (so if you pull up the eei feed during the game you'll get a replay of some show) forcing you to buy MLBtv or the radio equivalent

Yeah, this always happens to me when I try to stream online (usually on Opening Day). I get some national program instead of the game on WEEI. I was hoping there was something like Justin.tv (help me Justin!) that I can listen to at work. Otherwise I might be able to sneak out for a bit and watch some of the game at a bar since it's a slow day.
