WAKE UP TIME FOR BOY WONDER GM THEO EPSTEIN & HIS BIG $$$$

Red Sox should package their young and great pitchers and other prospects and $3M for Adrian Gonzalez or Prince Fielder.

Sox get Gonzalez and maybe re-sign Beckett, they will be right there with the Yankees with Teixiera and the rest.

Gonzalez who was given away by the Rangers is the 2nd best player in baseball besides Pujols, in that bad hitting cavern and slap hitters hitting in front and behind him.

Yankees have some real weak spots, bullpen lefty pitching, outfield hitting will be a real helter skelter, Posada, Jeter, Pettitte and Rivera are getting old fast too.

Rivera is one second away from having that transition year into Bolivian and Joba is so stupid he can't pitch more than 3 innings and should be eased into Rivera's slot this year with Mariano's mentorship, but old epic Hall of Fame 5 ring warriors off excellent seasons do not want to put the swords of battle away --- in high pressure and adrenalin pumping moments that we all live for...and be set-up men like he was for Wettleland.

Sox can re-leap by with a major move.

Being GM for Pittsburgh and other cheap ass baseball teams and no money markets is a real job, Theo and Cashman have the keys to the mint and should be 1-2 every year and being 2 just sucks.

I agree with your thought about packaging some of our young pitchers and going after Gonzalez. Gonzalez and resigning Beckett, to me are no-brainers if you really want to keep pace with the Yankees. I’m not really buying into this pitching and D will win us a World Series philosophy, even though that’s a traditional thought around baseball. I think this “we don’t need Bay” mentality from the management is sort of bitterness that he didn’t resign with us. Bay or no Bay we still need a “Bay like” bat in our lineup and Gonzalez would be a good fit. Once bay rejected the Sox final offer I myself sort of agreed with management and said the hell with him. I thought that we would go out and sign someone to replace him offensively. I liked Ellsbury patrolling no-man’s aka Center Field I think moving him to left is a waste of his skills, Manny proved one thing you can be a “bubbling idiot” and play LF at Fenway. OK I know there’s more to left and I shouldn’t brush it aside. I thought when we sign Cameron he would be in left, so I’m curious to see how this works out.

Every source indicated that Theo was trying to get Gonzalez but the Padres want to wait until the trade deadline so they can maximize value.

Gonzalez would be a nice add. I think the "we don't need Bay" attitude was actually a good move. Bay was asking for top-tier money for a 2nd-tier hitter. He's very good, but not great.

Again, just because Theo didn't get him doesn't mean he didn't try.

Berkman and Oswalt are now on the market.

Adrian Gonzalez...

Yankees should package Vasquez and some prospects for Oswalt.

Adrian Gonzalez is the real prize here. Teixiera's equal.

One would have to DH amd OF in in NY.

Boy Wonder Theo had Teixiera and 74 said to Cashman,"He is the the keys to the Dynasty!, and the Yankees swooped and scooped in!"

Same time next window....Theo has to bust a move with the young talent he has and get Lance Berkman and Ray Oswalt.

If he gets a hitter like Berkman and Oswalt...When the weather turns in June, you have Beckett, Oswalt, Lackey, Lester, and Buch..

At least put together 4 prospects for Adrian Gonzalez? He has +1 left and his value if they sign him is Hall of Fame level?

That rotation alone can reel off 15 straight and 30-40 and get you back in.

Theo has one month or the Sox remain an aged out dirt nap special.

The only place where the Sox have a glaring weakness is the bullpen. Sure they can try to get a bat but who's going to go down or get DFA'd when Pedroia, VMart, Tek, Ellsbury, and Hermida come back? It's really a matter of whether their guys can get healthy enough while they're still in contention. Theo is arguably the best GM in the game (his peers recently voted that) so I trust pretty much whatever he decides to do.

Theo is one of the best GMs. That said, it was only recently that he recognized that his theory on pitching was a steaming pile of shit. He came up with closer by committee when he first started, and he has been notorious for believing 35+ retreads can be the 3rd, 4th and 5th starters. That has changed recently.

Like I said back in March, the Padres want to wait until the deadline so they can maximize value. And if they're still in first place then, they're not selling.

Here you go ELVIS...

This was BEFORE the season started.

The Sox need a bat and Fielder is a FA at end of 2011 or 2012 start ---and move Youk to third.

The Sox needed a bat and came up empty. Theo is way pverrated.

So you bench Beltre even though he's arguably been the Sox best bat? Gotcha.

Edit: Fielder's also arbitration eligible next year so the Brewers still have him under control. Isn't a FA until after the 2011 season.

Edit 2: Before the absurdity of injuries, IIRC the Sox were tops in the ML in runs scored (at least in top 5). So, about that bat. Seriously, though, they need health and bullpen reinforcement and to watch out for that ever elusive annual August swoon.

Guys have best value in YBW....Year before walk.

I re-fired the list for 2011.

Crawford and Lee...

I love Dunn as a Yannkee DH.

Crawford is gonna be rich, so is Lee.

98% of sports writers had the Padres for last and Gonzalez traded for a slew of picks like Texiera.

Dude, it's done already. Think there is any chance he fails the physical or they don't give him Ryan Howard money? Didn't think so. The only way this deal didn't happen was Hoyer asking for too much in return.

Typical 74. Throw enough shit on the wall, and then claim you called it no matter what happens.

Notice you were posting about the trade while the Padres were in first place, and I said they wouldn't trade him then?
