REPENT! THE END IS NEARER THAN YOU THINK!

Postby BCEagle74 on Mon Feb 08, 2010 3:58 pm

When a slick lying sly clever scumbag like Selig gets a statue, and his NYC asshole Transit Authority crony Dick Ravitch tried to break the most powerful union on earth in 1994 and baseball lost the World Series and that did not even happen in WW I & II, and then he turned a blind eye to rampant and pervasive cheating with steroids, then maybe they should put a plaque underneath it reading SCUMBAG.

He got sweetheart deals for the Brewers as Commish and lined his pockets with other owners money when the stadium was built and then turned it over to his brat daughter.

The statue will be 7 feet tall so this little sneaky lying bitch is true to form and character.

His statue is on steroids too.

74 always has the best endings...

Bud Selig to be honored with statue

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers are erecting a statue of baseball commissioner Bud Selig outside Miller Park and will unveil it on Aug. 24.

Selig headed a group that bought the Seattle Pilots in bankruptcy court in 1970, moved the franchise to Milwaukee and renamed it the Brewers. He became acting commissioner in 1992 and took the job full-time six years later, turning control of the team over to his daughter, Wendy Selig-Prieb. The Selig family sold the team to a group headed by Mark Attanasio in 2005.

"The Brewers and Miller Park are in this city because of the commissioner's vision and dedicated efforts," Attanasio said Monday.

Selig's foundation donated statues of Hank Aaron and Robin Yount that were unveiled when Miller Park opened in 2001. Selig's statue, which will be more than 7 feet tall, will be built by the same designer, Brian Maughan.

They should put a 70,000 foot statue of the smartest man alive Marvin Miller in front of Yankee Stadium since it was his genius in running the baseball union and the deals they struck that made baseball the dynamic game with free agency and arbitration that it is today.

The Yankees were bought for $10M in 1972 and are worth $2.2 BILLION.

The owners make a fortune on the values of the teams, huge cash flows, ---even Pittsburgh ----and still whine like Buddy and his cronies and scumbag lackies.

The Steroid Era and the Strike sucked but Selig is responsible for interleague play, growth in revenue (with revenue sharing), oversaw the creation of numerous new stadiums, among other things.

Not sure if he deserves a statue but he's not as bad an owner as many think he is.

Selig was originally against interleague play you fucking boob and then the Union showed him the polls on attendance and interest.

Interleague is still fucked up with the rival deal and not enough games.

I was at the first one in Texas and framed.

Whatever. He still ushered it in. And the growth in revenues and player salaries should be his true lasting legacy. It will be steroids, though, which I think is stupid because most people nowadays don't really care if their favorite baseball player juiced or not in the past. They just don't want them juicing now.

The Bud Selig statue should be the size of a St. Christopher dashboard deal.

Selig was a asshole.

I do agree that it's a travishamockery that Miller isn't in the Hall yet. Gotta wait for a few more people to die before that one gets righted, though.

That's your counter-argument? No attempt to address the fact that inter-league was not Bud's idea, and that he indeed opposed it? :lame

Bud's legacy will be steroids, not the growing popularity of the sport or revenue streams. The 1998 surge was fueled by the steroid enhanced HR race, so the entire issue is suspect. The increase in popularity tacked right along with the boom in the economy, a rash of new stadiums, and the growing popularity of the NFL.

I do agree about the casual fan's attitude on steriods, even though I don't share that view.

And I think it's retarded that that is how he's going to get remembered. In 2007, the average team was worth 143% more than it was in 1998. In the early 90s (can't find exact year), leaguewide revenue was about $1.2 billion. This year it was a little over $6 billion, a growth of 400%, or about 20% a year. That is absurd, especially considering 1994 and the subsequent belo-par seasons are included. Also, Selig was one of the big reasons for the rash of new stadiums. He essentially promised an All-Star game to anyone that built or seriously renovated their stadia, as was the case with the recent selection of Kauffman, which is a huge cash cow for both the teams and the cities. Not to mention revenue sharing, which still has some holes but is good in theory and decent in practice, and a host of other things that has caused much greater parity than what was seen in the 1990s. He's certainly a hell of a lot better than his Vincent and Ueberroth and it's not even close.

The title is now official.

Chan Ho Park has agreed to a one-yeal deal with the New York Yankees, he announced Monday at a news conference in Seoul, South Korea.

The Yankees have not announced the signing, and on Monday team GM Brian Cashman declined to say a deal was done. But sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney that the Yankees had agreed to terms with Park on a deal worth $1.2 million, plus $300,000 in potential incentives, pending a physical.

Park, who pitched for the National League champion Philadelphia Phillies out of the bullpen last season, said he will join the Yankees bullpen, The Korea Times reported.

"I was deliberating on the Chicago Cubs and the Yankees, but their history and championship contention resulted in me picking the Yankees," he said, according to The Korea Times.

Earlier in the offseason, Park turned down a one-year, $3.25 milllion offer from the Phillies.

Cashman admitted the team is interested in Park, but declined to say a deal is done. He said he has had several conversions with agent Jeff Borris, who represents Park, but has no deal in place.

He said the team does have money left over in its budget to add payroll. Cashman called park "very attractive, especially what he does out of the bullpen."

As for Park fitting into an already full bullpen, Cashman said, "The more, the merrier. You can never have enough."

Park, the first South Korean to play in the majors, has a career record of 120-95 with a 4.35 ERA over 18 big-league seasons with the Dodgers, Rangers, Padres, Mets and Phillies.

ESPN The Magazine senior baseball writer Buster Olney. ESPN 1050 New York's Andrew Marchand and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

This is the part that is overlooked. The statue is for the Brewers to honor him for giving Milwaukee the Brewers. Not for his job as commissioner.

The Yanks need to package Park, Vasquez, Mitre and 2 mid level prospects for Oswalt and Berkman.

That would make the Yankees with Sab- 2, Pet- 3, Hughes -5, Burn -4 and Osw - 1 --simply unstoppable
